If you are interested in a T-Mobile prepaid plan, or you may become interested later, or you want to have a couple of extra/backup SIM cards for experiments or used phones, for a limited time only, the T-Mobile website is offering the Prepaid T-Mobile SIM 3-in-1 kit for just 99c after you enter coupon code SIM99 over there. I don’t know when the coupon expires…

The nice thing with a 3-in-1 kit is that you don’t have to worry about having the right size SIM card or grabbing razors or other things trying to cut it down on your own based on some random YouTube video.

PS: It comes with standard free shipping! (I just placed an order).

Nokia Lumia 635 (AT&T) for $30 to $40

IF you are looking for the AT&T GoPhone version of the Nokia Lumia 635 Windows Phone, you nay get lucky and find it on clearance at a local Walgreens store for $30. This is a big YMMV since there’s no way to check inventory online and they don’t sell this on their website.

Regardless though, you can still get it at a nice price online, it is on sale for $40 with a limit of three per customer at Amazon.com. This is locked to AT&T but it is a no-contract prepaid (GoPhone) phone. You can just use it as a Wifi-only device. You don’t have to jump through hoops to do this like Verizon. This already improves upon the previous Lumia 520 which was not a bad introductory Windows Phone.

If nothing else, you can get this to explore Windows Phone or use it as a general purpose device around the home (remote control, music or audiobook or podcast player, etc). It averages a very solid 4.4 out of 5 based on 1500+ customer reviews over there. Main specs are a 854 by 480 IPS display of 4.5-inch diagonal, 512MB RAM, 8GB on-board, microSD slot, quad-core processor.

Starbucks has sent out an email with yet another offer for its Rewards members. This promotion runs between August 4-10 in 2015 and you can use it as many time as you like. For every transaction of $10 or more, you will earn 4 bonus stars (in addition to the standard star). The $10+ amount has to be on a single transaction, not over time. So in the next few days, a lot of coworkers will be “volunteering” to make a Starbucks run 🙂 You have to be targeted for this offer, check your email or Starbucks app to see if it is there. Kindle First for August 2015 has six choices

The Kindle First program has a new tweak for August 2015. You have six pre-release ebooks to pick from instead of the usual four. So if you are a Prime member, you can get one of those six for FREE and start reading it right now, a month before it gets released for the rest of the world. If you like more than one, the rest will become available September 1st in 2015. The six choices are:

  • “The Girl from Krakow” by Alex Rosenberg in Historical Fiction
  • “City of Echoes” by Robert Ellis in Mystery
  • “Young Babylon” by Lu Nei and Poppy Toland in Modern Fiction
  • “The Hundred Year Flood” by Matt Salesses in Lit. Fiction
  • “About that fling” by Tawna Fenske in Romance
  • “The Good Neighbor” by AJ Banner in Psychological Suspense

You can see all the choices and pick one between August 1-31 in 2015 at the Kindle First page. After August 31st, a new set of choices will replace them.

TIP: if you are not certain which one to pick yet, wait for a few days for more reviews to get posted on them. These could be helpful in deciding which one to get. You have until August 31st to pick one of these six but don’t wait until 11:58pm on that day 🙂 Happy reading!
