Buy 2 Lysol products, Get 20 BoxTops

If you love helping your local schools with BoxTops, there is a new Lysol promotion running at amazon.com. If you purchase two eligible products from a list of many, you can get 20 boxtops by following the instructions at the bottom of the linked page. You have to take a picture of the receipt (or screenshot since it’s from Amazon) and submit it to the BoxTops website. You don’t have to mail or photocopy anything. I haven’t done this offer before, so I don’t know what happens next.

Prime Pantry Free Shipping with Coupon and Purchase of Five Eligible items

A new month brings multiple “gifts” for Prime members. One is the free pre-release e-book. Another is a new coupon code for free Prime Pantry shipping. This month (August 2016) coupon code PANTRYAUG gets you free shipping if you buy five items from this long list of eligible products. You don’t have to buy five different items, you can also buy five units of a single item, or any combination. You will see the free shipping appear in your shopping cart once you have enough eligible items there.

If you find enough items above to get free shipping, here are a few PrimePantry items that are a good deal as of the time of writing (the ones below don’t qualify for the five free shipping requirement)

Teavana Gravity Tea Brewers On Sale: 16oz for $14, 32oz for $21 [select colors]

It’s tea time again! If you like to brew loose leaf tea (or even tea bags) in those gravity brewers, the official Teavana website sale has some of the colors of both their 16oz and 32oz models on sale. The 16oz models (green, pink) go for $14 each, while the 32oz model (dark blue) goes for $21.

In parallel they have a sale on some of their loose leaf tea, the 2oz of the Caramel Chai Rooibos goes for $2.50, while the Chocolate Chai Black Tea goes for $3.25, and Oprah’s signature Chai Tea goes for $3.75 per 2oz. Fans of “real tea”, maybe interested in the 2oz of Yunnan Golden Pu-Erh going for $4. This averages 3.7 out of 5 based on 41 customer reviews which can be hard to decode since some of them are people who tried puerh for the first time, while others are puerh diehards that are too demanding πŸ™‚

You can easily find the above by sorting the Sale page by Lower Price.

Having said all that, shipping is free with orders of $50+, so if you are not planning a big purchase, you have to trade off the shipping fees versus buying elsewhere (eg the gravity brewers get free Prime shipping at Amazon at their regular prices).

PS: if you are interested in iron teapots (for brewing tea, not heating water), Teavana has a big markup on them, you may want to research some of the more affordable models available at Cost Plus World Market (no free shipping either but may have store pickup).

Kindle First Choices for August 2016 are up!

It’s that time of the month again, a new month is upon us, and a new selection of e-books has been loaded at the Kindle First page. These are new e-books that are scheduled to be released to the general population on September 1st, but if you are a Prime member, you get one of the six for free AND you get to read it right away. If you are not a Prime, you can buy one for $2 and read it right away.

Without further ado, the choices for August 2016 are:

  • “The Shelf Life of Happiness” by David Machado, Hillary Locke in Modern Fiction (this is not in self help despite the teaser title)
  • “After Disasters” by Viet Dinh in Literary Fiction
  • “Black Rain” by Matthew B.J. Delaney in Thrillers
  • “Interference” by AmΓ©lie Antoine, Maren Baudet-Lackner in Psychological Suspense
  • “The Things We Wish Were True” by Marybeth Mayhew Whalen in Contemporary Fiction
  • “Tier One (Tier One Series Book 1)” by Jeffrey Wilson in Military Thrillers

Strategically, it’s best to wait a few days before you pick one unless something calls out to you. Since they are pre-release, the only ones reviewing them are other fellow KindleFirsters, so it will take a few days for them to build review profiles that have enough of them to be helpful in deciding. You have until August 31st in 2016 to pick from these, but don’t wait until 11:59pm on that day πŸ™‚ They will change on 9/1/16.

Surprisingly perhaps there are no fantasy or science fiction books in this month’s choices either πŸ™
