Lyft and Vudu headline April 18 T-Mobile Tuesdays

T-Mobile cellular plans have become more carrier (than uncarrier) in recent months, but the Tuesday freebies continue to roll! For April 18 in 2017, there are five freebies. Sort of. Two are pretty good, a $5 Vudu credit (you can use it for rental or purchase or movies or purchase of TV shows (single episodes or towards season passes), and a $5 Lyft Line credit. Next up, T-Mobile will plant a tree for you, which is nice for the planet 🙂 It is Earth Day Week after all!

The other two are more on the meh side. You get 50% off Eco-Cards, which is useful only if you are a fan of the brand, and $25 credit to use at Restaurant.com, which is nowhere near as good as it sounds. Be sure to look up how things works there before you commit any money to it. Of course the T-Mo freebie doesn’t cost you anything, so you lose nothing by claiming it.

Oster FPSTFP1355 2-Speed 10-Cup Food Processor for $36

Eating is good for you, or so they say 🙂 The new condition Oster FPSTFP1355 2-Speed 10-Cup Food Processor is currently on sale for $36 with free shipping for all at amazon.com, thanks to the return of the $35+ minimum for free shipping for non-Prime members.

This 500W food processor averages 3.9 out of 5 based on over 260 customer reviews, and has over 50 questions answered, so if you are curious about it, check both places, and/or use the search-boxes for each one. They are kinda buried further down the website, but if you slow down, take a deep breath and use a desktop browser, you’ll eventually find them in the chaos and disorder that is an Amazon product page these days 🙂

FREE: “Deathless” by Catherynne Valente (ends 4/16/17)

Unlike the Kindle First freebies that begin like clockwork on the first of every month, the Tor monthly e-book club is a bit more floating in time and space. I suppose it makes sense since they specialize in fantasy and scifi 🙂 Their April 2017 freebie, which you must needs claim by the end of day on April 16 (2017) is “Deathless” by Catherynne Valente.

As usual, you have to enter your email address at the eBook Club page and play the email ping-pong until you get a download link. Their freebies are DRM-free so you can load them on any device or app you want as long as it can read ePUB or MOBI. You can download or both of the formats. eBooks are small (compared to other media), so it doesn’t hurt to get both 🙂

Oster TSSTTRWF4S 4-Slice Toaster for $29.49

If you don’t want to appease the Cylons, you don’t call them toasters, but you politely show them your nice shiny toaster as an homage 🙂 Which brings us to the Oster TSSTTRWF4S 4-Slice Toaster, on sale for $29.49 at amazon.com. Free shipping for Prime member or with a $35+ order. You can buy as many of these as you like. Only the Stainless Steel color scheme is on sale. It has four slots, with each pair of slots independently adjustable toasting-strength wise. It averages 3.8 out of 5 based on over 1500 customer reviews.

Great Cordcutter Gift Card Deals at RiteAid with Plenti Rewards

Good until the close of business on Saturday April 15 in 2017, at Rite Aid brick and mortar stores, for those participating (or willing to join) the Plenti rewards program, there is a trio of loaded gift card deals for cordcutters!

  • Buy $50 Netflix Gift card, get 800 Plenti Points ($8 equivalent)
  • Buy $30 in Google PLAY or iTunes, get 500 Plenti Points ($5 equivalent)
  • limit two Neflix and limit two combination of iTunes and Google Play)

This is a very good deal, it’s an effective 16% discount on Netflix (you can load it up on your account in just a few seconds) and an effective 20% discount on Google Play (discounts are rare). It’s not a bad discount for iTunes, but sometimes you can find a 25% or 30% through store gift card promotions (Walgreens has a recurring buy $30+ in iTunes, get $10 Walgreens gift card, but it’s not running right now).

99c HD rental: Inferno (Tom Hanks)

If you like to rent movies in HD online, and watch without annoying ads, good until 4/17/17, Amazon Instant Video is offering 99c rentals of Tom Hanks’s Inferno movie. Once you rent it, you have 30 days to begin watching. Once you begin watching, you have 48 hours to finish it. If you don’t begin watching within 30 days, you lose it, and you get no refund.

PS: I don’t know if this is eligible for digital credits ~ if yes, then you can watch it for free if you have $0.99+ in slow-shipping or other Amazon promotional credits.

Pay $40, Get $50 Famous Footwear eGift Card with coupon

Shoe shopping season! For a limited time, coupon code FAMOUS10 gets you $10 off a purchase of a $50 Famous Footwear gift, delivered by e-mail (not a physical plastic one) at amazon.com. Select the “$50” box on the page there and proceed to checkout where you enter the promo code in the usual manner. This is a limited time offer, but they do not specify the expiration date. Limit ONE per customer.

Extra Membership Point at Best Buy and Macy’s

This is another American Express Offer you can find in the “Offers” section when you login to your account. It is available only to cards that participate in Membership Rewards (not the lovely AMEX Blue), and it is YMMV. First you have to find these offers in your account (some of them are targeted, so only some people get them), and then you have to manually activate them, which sounds ore complicated than it is, you just press the “Add to Card” button for every offer you are interested in. You can “Add to Card” on as many offers as you like, including all of them. But you have to do it one by one 🙂

An extra 1% may not be much but if you are only getting 1% in points anyway at Macy’s or Best Buy, then it is doubling up your Rewards points 🙂

Here are the screenshots of the two offers, Best Buy first, then Macy’s:

Amazon offers 5-month installment plan on FireTV (YMMV)

With more and more companies entering the fray of internet TV (YouTubeTV is now live in five major cities, Hulu is next, Apple is pondering), streaming boxes become more and more valuable, and unlike the dreaded cable boxes that are typically old, slow and you pay for them monthly anyway even if you don’t own them, they are yours.

And if you want to spread the payments over, Amazon is offering (to some customers, YMMV, I don’t know if everyone sees this) a zero-interest five-month installment plan. They take the price of the Fire TV which is currently $90, they divide it by five, and they charge your credit card that amount ($18) every month for the next five months.

If their computer offers this to you, you will see something like this on the product page (this with a desktop web browser):

T-Mobile Tuesdays for April 11 get you a free digital magazine

The headliner of the Tuesday April 11 (2017) freebies for T-Mobile customers are headlined by a 1-year digital subscription to a magazine, from a choice of thirteen from the home, fashion, lifestyle and beauty categories, including heavy-hitters like Cosmo and Marie Claire and Esquire and Redbook. The complete list can be found in the app over there.

The other freebies are a continuation of the Dunkin Donuts $2 credit, and the first time (as far as I can recall) of RedBox. Yes a free 1-night movie rental. I suspect this will be a DVD, not a BluRay. If you have multiple lines, you should be able to get one per line.

Bing Rewards: unlock a $5 Starbucks Gift Card offer

If you are participating in Bing Rewards, check your emails or account for a new promotion running until April 30 in 2017. If you make 30 or more searches during the month, you can unlock a $5 Starbucks Gift Card offer! You don’t get the gift card, you can unlock the offer to get the gift card. This may be a targeted promotion to encourage inactive Bing users to use it more often. YMMV since I have no way of checking how many others are eligible for this.

Bonus Stars Dash on Protein Bistro Boxes

This promotion is mostly good for fans of the Protein Bistro boxes, meaning, if you had already been buying them, this promotion can get you some bonus points. As usual, it is YMMV (I don’t know how many people get invited to these) and you have to manually press the “Join the Dash” button in your email invitation to start earning.

You have to buy four protein bistro boxes between April 11-17 in 2017. If you do, you will earn 75 Bonus Stars, which are 60% of a full reward. So it doesn’t make sense to buy these for the reward. A bistro box is $5+, so at best this offer would effectively be (when you do the star equivalency math) a “Buy 5 Get 1 Free” type of thing.

As far as I can tell, getting a protein bistro box by redeeming a previously earned reward will NOT get you a count towards your four, but I haven’t tested it out.

April 10 is Starbucks Double Stars Day (YMMV)

This is YMMV as I do not know if every Starbucks Rewards member gets the same “Double Stars Day” or they get spread out. Check your emails or the Starbucks apps or its notifications. April 10 in 2017 is declared as Double Stars day, where everything you buy earns twice as many Reward Stars as it does on other days. In other words, you are earning 4X per $1 instead of 2X. Which means, with Double Stars, a $31.25 purchase translated into a FULL reward (125 stars).

You can buy as much as you like during this offer. Gift cards and reloads are not eligible for obvious reasons (otherwise everyone would be doubling up on the purchases). It is a good opportunity to restock on coffee bags and teas and buy any of their new spring collection cups.

The Road Rage Coloring Book for $4 (limited time offer)

For a limited time only, the brand new coloring book, “The Road Rage Coloring Book” by James Alexander is on sale, in new condition, as a special release promotion, for $4 in paperback (100 pages, April 7 (2017)) at Amazon by Amazon actual. Free 2-day shipping for Prime members even though it’s under $5. You can buy up to 30 at this price.

But that’s not all! A lot of the other coloring books by James Alexander, many themed around anger and expression and processing of said feelings are also on sale for $4 or less at Amazon, again, with free 2-day shipping for Prime members, despite the sub-$5 price. This includes the 150-page Sh*t Happens. That’s the name of the book, I did not replace the “i” with the “*” ~ the publisher did 🙂

Shhh! Don’t tell the “Add ON” police 🙂

Friday only: 50% off Coffee Cake

Nom-nom! Regional bakery chain Le Boulanger (not to be confused with the company Starbucks purchased a few years ago called “Le Boulange”) is offering 50% off on coffee cakes from 11am until close of business on Friday 4/7/17 at their brick and mortar bakeries. The promotion works on both individual slices and whole cakes too! The time is right to start that “Coffee Cake Diet”. Much better than the “Santa Clarita Diet” 🙂
