After 2pm Dash returns for Starbucks Rewards

If you are a member of the Starbucks Rewards program, a new “After 2PM” (local time) Dash promotion is back. As before, check your emails or the app to make sure you are invited to participate. You must first manually activate the offer (easier than it sounds, just press the “Join the Dash” button).

After you do that, if you make 4 or 6 purchases after 2pm local time, between August 15-21 in 2017, you will earn either 50 or 100 points. The offer does not restart, so if you make more than 6 purchases, you won’t earn additional bonus points. You’ll still earn the usual rewards on the purchase amount.

Fila Women’s Ascent 12 Trail Shoe for $20 w/free S&H

The FILA eBay store strikes again with another good deal with free shipping, it is the new condition with the customary shoe box Fila Women’s Ascent 12 Trail Shoe on sale for $20 with free shipping in two color options and various sizes.

There is a limit of five per customer, but I don’t know if it’s five overall, or five per color/size combination. Regardless I doubt anyone would want to buy that many, unless a reseller, or perhaps buying them for a sports team 🙂

I haven’t bought this particular shoe, but I bought a couple of others from the FILA eBay store. Here is my unboxing (only pictures and text; no annoying video) of a different shoe!

Hot New Deal: Snacks Amazon Sample box for $10 [Prime members only!]

A Prime membership is getting more and more valuable. Among the many Prime Benefits are the Amazon Sample Boxes. They work like this:

  1. You purchase a sample box at its listed price
  2. one week after the sample box ships, the purchase price of the sample box is added to your Amazon account as a store credit; you can use that store credit to purchase products from a list of items that includes the sampled products

T-Mobile Tuesday for 8/15/17 include $100 Postmates Delivery Fee Credit and more

The freebies for the August 15 (2017) of the T-Mobile Tuesdays have been revealed and there are two brand new freebies coming! You will get a $100 delivery fee service credit at Postmates, and a FREE Sonic CD Steam game.

If you are not familiar with Postmates, this $100 credit only covers their service fee. Not the purchase price of products of services. So it’s not $100 to spend at Postmates, but $100 worth in covering the Delivery Fee part of the Postmates bill.

The third item is a coupon really, you can watch the new movie Hitman for $4 per ticket. This is a recurring offer that features different new movie theatrical releases.

August 9 is Starbucks Double Stars Day (YMMV)

I don’t know if every Starbucks Rewards member get the same “Double Stars Day” or they get spread around throughout the month. Check your emails to be sure! Wednesday August 9 is 2017 is, for at least some, Starbucks Rewards members, another double stars day. That means almost everything you guy (gift cards and reloads are NOT eligible; and a few other minor exceptions) get you twice as many points, which means you get a reward by spending half as usual.

Assuming you redeem a reward for an $8 item (eg the new chicken salad platter thing), that means one point is worth around 13 cents during Double Star Days. So this is a good opportunity to restock on coffee beans, tea bags, buy any new cups and mugs you need, K-Cups, etc.

August 8-14: Buy two Protein Boxes, Get 50 Stars

If you are participating in the Starbucks Reawrds program, there is a new promotion running that you have to first manually activate and it is by email invitation, so YMMV if you are offered it. If you purchase two protein boxes between August 8-14 in 2017, you will earn 50 Bonus stars in addition to the regular stars.

With the two new salad trays arriving at Starbucks at $7.50 and $8, the value of each Rewards Point has increased, assuming you are planning to redeem your rewards towards them. So assuming you keep getting the $8 salad tray, one Rewards Point is worth 6.4 cents!

Peets Rewards: Double Points on $10+ purchases until 8/13/17

If you are a member of the recently launched Peets Rewards program which incidentally gives you one FREE DRINK after you make your first purchase as a Peetniks rewards participant, they have a new promotion running until the close of business on 8/13/17.

You earn double points on purchases over $10 or more (before taxes and other fees). Meaning the product prices must be $10+, not the product price plus sales tax plus CRV or whatever other taxes may exist in your area 🙂

Typically, every purchase earns 1 point. Fifteen points become a free drink. With this promotion, you earn 2 points per $10+ purchase, so you can get your free drink twice as fast. Strategically, if you have multiple big purchases (eg more than one bag of coffee beans), split them between multiple visits 🙂

You can find this offer in the email account associated with your Peets rewards, or you can find it in the Peets app’s Inbox, or your smartphone notifcations (if enabled). Screenshots of these right below:

Sony Xperia L1 for $180 [Unlocked, USA warranty]

There’s an insane number of smartphone options these days, and at a wild range of prices. Many of the phones out there are available unlocked, which typically give you the most flexibility and better resale value (other things equal as many other factors determine resale value of a smartphone ~ not that we are buying these things as investments).

Which brings us to the Sony Xperia L1 getting its first discount, now going for $180 with free shipping in the three official color schemes at amazon.com. This is new condition, with USA warranty, and sold by Amazon actual. No contract, and you don’t even have to use it with a cellular plan.

It comes with Nougat out of the box, which is a step ahead of most Android phones out there (sadly!). It has 2GB RAM, 16GB on-board storage, microSD slot (Sony sells microSD cards, so of course they’ll support microSD storage), and GSM compatibility.

It has a 5.5-inch display with 720p resolution (it’s under $200 after all), with a MediaTek processor, a Nano SIM, USB-C connector, etc.

As you can see from the pictures, one semi-distinguishing characteristic of this is that there are almost no side bezels, but plenty of them at the top and bottom.

AMEX Offer: Spend $75+ at Reebok, Get $15 Statement Credit

This is a potentially practical American Express offer. If you make purchases (they can be more than one) of $75+ total by September 4 in 2017 at Reebok’s website or their brick and mortar stores, you will receive a one-time $15 Statement Credit to your American Express account.

The offer only works at Reebok stores, not at any other shoe seller or department store. If you have multiple AMEX credit cards, make sure you pay with the one you activate the offer with, otherwise you won’t receive the statement credit.

T-Mobile Tuesday Freebies for 8/8/17 include 1-Day Redbox Rental and 1-Year Digital Magazine Sub

It is a mix of freebies and coupons at the T-Mobile Tuesdays for August 8, in 2017, as the cellular provider rewards are starting to heat up, with both Verizon and AT&T rebooting their rewards programs to counter the overwhelming success of T-Mobile Tuesdays.

For August 8 in 2017, the two freebies are a 1-day Redbox rental (your choice of game, DVD or BluRay), along with a 1-Year digital subscription of Men’s Health or Women’s Health. Since these offers are per line, if you have more than one line, you can get both magazines and multiple 1-day rentals. The 1-day rentals cannot be stacked on the same rental, Redbox only offers coupons on the first day.

Of the two coupons, one is potentially interesting (but price-check to be sure), you get 25% off Mophie at T-Mobile’s website or brick and mortar stores. The other coupon is utter meh, a $25 “credit” to Restaurant.com.

12pk RXbar Coffee & Chocolate for $21.80

If you are planning a Prime Pantry order soon, and you like the RX Bars, or like to try new protein bars with natural ingredients, the “Coffee Chocolate” flavor of the RXbars is on sale in the 12-pack for $21.80 through Prime Pantry. Limit three per customer during this sale.

If you don’t want to pay the $6 flat shipping fee for your Pantry box, fear not, a number of items qualify for the free shipping promotion. Simply buy five items from that list and you get free shipping. It can be any combination, five units of the same item, or five different items, or three of this and two of that.

50% off Quest Bars with coupon

My oh my! If you are a fan of the Quest Bars, don’t walk but RUN to Amazon.com where they offer half-off most of the Quest Bar 12 packs they offer on their website. This is the customary Amazon green Clip-ON coupon, and brings more flavors down to around $1 per bar, or slightly less.

The promotion is good for either the classic 1-Time Purchase (the usual way of shopping at Amazon), or their “Subscribe and Save”. This is the normal Amazon, not PrimePantry, not AmazonFresh.

The best deal in terms of lowest price per bar is the Cookies ‘n’ Cream which drops from $21.49 to under $11 for the 12-pack!

This is a limited time promotion, I do not know when it expires…

25% off Clip-On Coupon on many Lara Bar 16-packs

If you are a fan of the Lara Bars (nutrition bars), good news for you! Amazon is running a big 25% off Clip-ON coupon promotion featuring a variety of flavors in their 16-packs on sale. This is a good opportunity to stock up on favorites, or try new flavors without paying too much for them.

A number of 16-packs are going for $16 BEFORE the coupon. The coupon will drop them from $16 to $12. That comes out to 75c per bar, a very good price!

But that’s not all. Further down the page over there you will find some of the newer varieties they introduces, “Nuts and Seeds” and “Fruits and Greens” and “Bites”.

One promising new flavor (which I don’t think I’ve tried yet) is the Chocolate Coconut Chew going for $22.76 before coupon. The coupon will drop to it to around $17, just over $1 per bar.

PS: for most of these, the Clip-ON coupon is also available for “Subscribe and Save” purchases.

PS2: speaking of Lara Bars, they have their own physical Dash button. If you are curious about it, I just posted a new Tech Tip on how to avoid Dash Button configuration problems.

20pk Good Nature Organic Chamomile Tea for $2.82

It’s a stressful and fast-paced world. If you want to wind down naturally and cheaply, a cup of chamomile tea can help! And if you are a fan of organic, there is a sale on a new brand at Amazon, it is the Good Nature Organic Chamomile Tea on sale for $2.82 or if you want to do a “Subscribe and Save”, you can get it for $2.68. Limit ten per customer either way.

Don’t tell the grown-ups at Amazon, but at the moment this is NOT an Add-On item, so if you are a Prime member, you can get it delivered with free 2-day shipping. It only has three customer reviews so far, so if you like to explore new brands and review new products, this is an opportunity.

August 3-7: BOGO on Macchiatos at Starbucks between 2-5pm local time

This is one of the rare Starbucks offers that does not require a Rewards account! Good between 2-5pm local time, starting on Thursday until Monday (August 3-7, 2017), there is an automatic BOGO (Buy One, Get One FREE) promotion on any Macchiato in the store! Their cash register will automatically adjust the price, no coupon, nothing for you to do.
