For the shopping week of Sunday January 17 until the close of business on Saturday January 23 in 2016, at Staples brick and mortar stores in the USA, they have a coupon code (46455 – see screenshot of weekly ad below) that gets you 25% back in Staples Rewards for many (but not all of your purchases).
As you can see in the areas with the green lines, exclusions do apply. Some brands (Apple, Bose, etc) are not eligible and some product categories (laptops, tablets, gift cards, etc) are not either. The whole list of exclusions are on the coupon itself. You can find at their Weekly Ad page, and locate the appropriate week (January 17-23).
STRATEGICALLY this is not as good of a deal as it used to be. Since the OfficeDepot-OfficeMax merger began, before even Staples tried to buy the combined new company, the office supplies Rewards programs have been getting clipped and tweaked and restricted. In recent months, Staples only gives you rewards in $5 increments, not the full amount. Some of the clipped amount carries forward but eventually gets zeroed out. They have also placed new restriction on how to redeem the rewards (eg not on sale or special promotion items), and you may not even be allowed to use more than one per transaction. Of interest since their rewards system splits most Rewards amount into two certificates per month.
Having said that, if you are a big spender at Staples, the restrictions may not be as big of a deal as they might be for someone in the sub-$1000 range per year. I am not saying avoid them, I am just saying approach them knowing that there are new limitations and restrictions.
