Nokia Lumia 520 GoPhone (AT&T) for $30 [limit 3] {WinPhone}

If you want to experiment with Windows Phone 8.1 and don’t want to sign a contract or pay a lot of money for a handset, or go the used route, there is a great deal at the moment at Amazon.com. For just $30, you can get the new condition no-contract Nokia Lumia 520 GoPhone (AT&T) with a limit of three per customer. You are not obligated to start a prepaid plan with AT&T. You can just use it as a Wifi-only device.

This is locked to AT&T, which is partially why it is discounted compared to the unlocked version. However, most of the pre-installed bloatware can be removed, even most (but not all) of the AT&T apps. You do get an alert every time you boot it to setup a SIM card, but a simple touch makes it go away. It has a microSD card and mine works fine with a 64GB microSD card. It is upgradeable to Windows Phone 8.1 (I upgraded mine a few days ago) and works smoothly. Through the settings, you can sends media and/or apps to the microSD, so you can fill it up with music and audiobooks and podcasts. Having said that, keep in mind, the buttons on most MFi headphones/headsets with 3-buttons and mic do not work with Windows Phone. Sound/music still flows through but button presses as ignored.
