Free $50 Gift Card with Fitbit Ionic for $299

For a limited time, you can get a FREE $50 Amazon Gift Card when you purchase the Fitbit Iconic smartwatch for its current price of $299. You have to manually add the $50 gift card to your shopping cart, along with the Fitbit obviously.

Amazon is making us work for our freebies 🙂 The Ionic averages 4.2 out of 5 based on 1460+ customer reviews.

PS: I have began my smartwatch adventures after years of resistance (because I didn’t want to be a frustrated alpha tester) with the Fossil Q Explorist (FTW4004; 3rd Gen).

KindleFirst six choices for November 2015 are out

It is November 2015 already, time sure does fly, and among many other things, this means a new round of selections has gone live at Amazon’s Kindle First page. If you are a Prime member, you can get one of those six pre-release e-books for FREE and start reading it right now, before the rest of the general population. If you are not a Prime member, you can get one too but you have to pay $2 for it. The general population will be able to buy these starting December 1st.

Without further delay, the choices for November 2015 are:

  • “The Burned Bridges of Ward, Nebraska” by Eileen Curtright in Modern Fiction
  • “The Short Drop” by Matthew FitzSimmons in Thrillers
  • “Christmas in Good Hope (A Good Hope Novel Book 1)” by Cindy Kirk in (Seasonal) Romance
  • “Daughter of Sand and Stone” by Libbie Hawker in Historical Fiction
  • “Gateway to Fourline (The Fourline Trilogy Book 1)” by Pam Brondos in Fantasy
  • “Sleeping Embers of an Ordinary Mind” by Anne Charnock in Experimental Fiction

TIP: since these ebooks just got released to the world, they have only a small number of reviews each, ranging from 2 to 9 as of the time of writing. If you are not sure which one to get, you may want to wait for another week or two, more people will read them and review them, and hopefully by then, the reviews will help you pick something interesting. You can get them at any point during the month, from the 1st until the 30th, just don’t wait until 11:59pm on the last day of the month 🙂

$5 off your first order with Dash button (Prime only)

Amazon is trying to encourage all their Prime members to try out their new Dash buttons. If you purchase a dash button for $5, they will deduct $5 from your first purchase made with that Dash button. So it is a net zero transaction, assuming you can find something you want/need to order.

As of the time of writing, there are 29 different brands participating, a combination of household items (Tide, Hefty, Ziploc) and foods (Larabars, SmartWater, Orbit, Gatorade, etc).

Each Dash button can be used to order a variety of items from that particular brand. You select which one by using the Amazon app and connecting it to the Dash button through your Wifi network. For example, the Larabar Dash button has 42 different choices.

This is decidedly convenience over bargain, but since the first order is essentially free, it could be a fun thing to try out 🙂

Free Medium Drink with Mug or Tumbler purchase

Save the planet and get a free medium drink at Peet’s Coffee stores between April 22-24 in 2015. No coupon needed. Given how expensive some of the drinks are (eg the new Javivas or hot espresso-based drinks), it’s not a bad deal. From what I recall, their diner-style coffee mugs are around $6 or $7. A medium fancy drink is close to $5. They also have a variety of other tumblers but those go for more.

Free Prime Pantry shipping if you buy 4 items from list of 100+ options

If you are Prime member, want to try Amazon’s new Prime Pantry service, and need some spring cleaning type of household supplies, Amazon has a limited time offer, if you purchase four or more of the spring cleaning products shown on this page, you will receive a $6 off discount, which is what the Prime Pantry shipping fee is.

This is a limited time offer but they do not specify the expiration date, so YMMV…

Kindle First titles for April 2015 are up: Pick One

The last couple of months the Kindle First program spoiled us by offering two free ebooks instead of the usual one, but for the April 2015 offerings, we are back to picking one of the four available options. As usual, these are pre-release books that will be e-published the following month (May 1st), but Prime members can get one of the four for free, and start reading it immediately. The offers are running April 1-30 in 2015, and will be replaced on the first of every month.

Without further ado, this month’s Kindle First choices are:

  • “Boundary Crossed (Boundary Magic Book 1)” by Melissa F. Olson in Urban Fantasy
  • “Trail of Broken Wings” by Sejal Badani in Contemporary Fiction
  • “The Altar Girl” by Orest Stelmach in Mystery
  • “This Thing Called Love (A Mirror Lake Novel)” by Miranda Liasson in Romance

If more than one of them sounds appealing, wait until May 1st to purchase them or if they are part of Kindle Unlimited or Prime, borrow them for free.

Three months of Netflix with red Galaxy Tab 3 7.0

It is 2015, and a new round of Samsung Galaxy Perks are up, decidedly more stingy than previous iterations. Unless you have bought the garnet-red 7-inch Galaxy Tab 3. This one, perhaps because of its redness (?), gets a free three month Netflix subscription, in addition to the common offers (Dropbox, etc). From this line at the Perks website, “Once redeemed, your new or existing account will receive a credit for the value of a 3-month subscription”, we can theorize that this offer is also good for existing Netflix members. More details at the Perks website. This round expires 3/31/15 (I don’t know if it will be renewed later).

Chipotle January 26 offer: buy sofrita, get free item later

January 26 in 2015 is an important date to remember (deal wise) at participating Chipotle stores. If you purchase a Sofrita burrito on that date, you can get a free burrito of your choice at a later date by showing them your Jan-26 soffrita receipt. Sofritas are their soy-based meat substitute, and it is a bit on the spicy side, so you may want to add fresh salsa and cheese and cream to un-spice it (if you are not big on spicy).

[DEAD] Jan 6-10: Free Small Maple Latte at Peet’s with select purchases

This limited time offer expired, but do not despair! Peet’s Coffee has promotions of this nature every few weeks! Stay tuned to their emailing list or this blog for future updates!

Speaking of Peet’s coffee, they have a full page with three coupons on their K-cup coffee in this week’s coupon books found in the Sunday newspapers (1/11/15).
