The Google Play gift cards are not discounted as often as iTunes, so it’s a sale-a-bration when they do! And they do indeed for the week of November 20-26 (in 2016) at Rite Aid brick and mortar stores. You buy a $25 Google Play plastic gift card, and receive 500 Plenti points, which have the $5 equivalent buying power in future purchases. The points will be ready to use in your account the morning after the purchase. Limit two per customer during this week. You get confirmation all is well at the cash register receipt. So this is a virtual 20% off discount ~ assuming you’ll have no issue spending the 500 Plenti points 🙂
Spend $50+ at Macy’s, Get 2000 Plenti points ($20 equivalent)
More Plenti action, this offer is running until 11/17/16 and has to be manually activated (the green button over there). You get 2000 Plenti points ($20 future buying power) when you make a purchase of $50 or more at the Macy’s website. Check your Plenti account for all the terms and conditions. Assuming you’ll spend your 2000 Plenti points wisely, this is effectively a 40% off discount on your Macy’s purchase. They are already running some specials on their own when you add beauty items to your cart, so if you are strategic about it, you can score big.
NOTE: some brands are not eligible for this promotion. This is because some brands will not let retailers include them in promotions like this. Be sure to check the terms and conditions, I’m not just saying it for the sake of saying it 🙂
Spend $25+ on Food Items at Chili’s, Get 500 Plenti Points
If you like Chili’s restaurants and you are part of the Plenti rewards program, check your account for a new promotion that gets you 500 Plenti points ($5 future buying power) when you spend $25+ on eligible purchases (food items) at Chili’s restaurants. This is a manual offer, you have to activate it over there in your account by clicking on the green “Activate Offer” button. A screenshot of that is shown below:
Once activated, the offer continues until 12/5/16. Check the full terms over there, alcoholic beverages are not eligible for this promotion, neither are taxes or tips. You have to get to $25+ with food items only. You can use it multiple times during the promotional period but once per transaction.
NOTE: You have to show them your Plenti card or give them your phone number in order to get the 500 Plenti points!
Nov 6-12: buy $20 Netflix Gift Card, get 400 Plenti Points (limit 2)
Good news Netflix users! In addition to the Black Friday Plenti offer, Rite Aid is offering another Netflix gift card offer for the week of November 6-12 in 2016 at their brick and mortar stores. The amounts are different for this offer, buy a $20 Netflix gift card and get 400 Plenti points to use in the future. That’s a 20% virtual discount. The promotion is limit two per customer for the week. Typically they carry the $15-to-$100 Netflix gift cards, so you have to tell the cashier that you want $20 loaded on your gift card.
PS: 400 Plenti points have the buying power of $4 at Rite Aid, Macy’s, Exxon-Mobil and other participating places. I’ve been doing these gift card Plenti offers for a few months now, and they do work as expected. Just make sure you get the right amounts and during the correct week 🙂
Plenti Dining: Earn 100 Bonus Points on $50+ Dining (YMMV)
If you are part of the Plenti rewards program, check your emails. They also have a Dining Rewards program [see introduction], which is similar to other credit-card based rewards programs, and earns you 3% points on your purchase. The email has a new limited time promotion that gets you 100 bonus Plenti points with a dining purchase of $50+ paid with your credit card linked to your Plenti Dining account. Offer ends by 11/7/16.
NOTE that Plenti Dining is a separate tab in the Plenti account and you have to connect at least one credit card to it. The credit card transaction is how they can figure out that you made an eligible purchase and give you your Plenti points.
Cordcutter Alert: Netflix Gift Cards at Rite Aid during Black Friday (effective 20% off discount)
Netflix prices have gone up, but Black Friday comes to the rescue! If you participate in the Plenti Rewards program (or do not object to joining, it’s free – [see introduction], and have Rite Aid B&M stores near you, you can get a nice deal on prepaid Netflix gift cards. You buy a $50 Netflix Gift Card, and receive 800 Plenti points which are the spending equivalent of $8 towards a future purchase. Assuming you can spend the Plenti points (Rite Aid, Macy’s, Exxon-Mobil, etc), you are getting a virtual 20% off discount on the Netflix prices that are paid with the gift card.
Better yet, this promotion is limit 2 for the promotional period (Thursday to Saturday during Black Friday 2016 week). Rite Aid stores typically are out of the way of major shopping areas, so you are not going to fight mall traffic for these 🙂 $100 in Netflix gift cards is, assuming you are on the $10/month plan, ten months of Netflix!

20x Plenti Points at Macy’s (YMMV)
If you are part of the Plenti points rewards program, check your emails or your “Earn Points” section. There is a new offer that gets you 20X points on purchases at Macy’s. This is pretty pretty pretty good, it’s essentially 20% back in Plenti points! You have to manually opt-in before you can take advantage of this by clicking the green Activate button on their website or through their emails. The one below is only a screenshot of the offer:
When you click on the “Terms and Conditions” over there, you learn that this offer is good both online and at their brick and mortar stores, and it ends on October 20 at 11:59pm eastern time. The usual restrictions apply (eg, no points on gift cards or on select brands that do not allow this practice). Check the fineprint there if you are not sure.
Google Play Gift Card Offer Returns to Rite Aid October 9-15 in 2016
If you are participating in the Plenti Rewards program and you want to stock up on Google Play gift cards, we have good news for you! For the week of Sunday October 9 until the close of business on Saturday the 15th in 2016, at Rite Aid brick and mortar stores, we have the return of the Google Play Gift Card promotion!
The terms are the same as the previous times. You buy a $25 plastic Google Play Gift Card and receive 500 Plenti points. You can verify this by looking at your cash register receipt. It shows the 500 pending points there. You can spend your new points the next day, so you don’t even have to wait that long. 500 Plenti points have the buying power of $5 at Rite Aid, Macy’s, Exxon-Mobil gas stations and the like, so it’s essentially a 20% off discount on the Google Play gift cards that rarely get discounted. The usual limit of two per customer during this promotional week applies.
DID YOU KNOW that you can now use your Google Play gift card balance to automatically play for the Google Music subscription service? You just have to select it from your Google account settings and it will keep using the balance every month until it runs out. With the discount inherent in this offer, you are essentially getting the $10/month music service for $8 per month. This subscription also includes the “YouTube RED” subscription automatically (you have to be logged on to YouTube with the same google account obviously). And you can load thousands of your own songs into the cloud, so both the subscription and your personal collection are blended together, you don’t have to remember what’s where (there are still some artists that are not available in streaming service, plus there is music that is offered directly by the artists, or by new and upcoming artists that is not available in streaming services yet).
Transfer AMEX Points to Plenti Rewards, Get 50% More
For a limited time, the Plenti Rewards program is offering y’all an incentive to transfer your existing American Express Membership Points to Plenti with a 50% bonus. If you transfer 500 AMEX Points, you will receive 750 Plenti points while this promotion is running. Check your Plenti emails to see if you qualify for this promotion. They send it by email, I did not find it on their website.
Once you click through the email, it takes you to a page where you can calculate the numbers. Points must be transferred in 500 AMEX Rewards increments. They have a handy calculator there, as you can see, I entered 2000 AMEX Rewards points and it told me I would be getting 3000 Plenti points. The offer is good until 12/31/16.
Considering that it is not easy to directly convert AMEX Membership points to cash or cash-equivalents at a 1:1 ratio (even paying with them at AMEX has an unfavorable conversion ratio), being able to transfer them to Plenti with a 50% bonus is a big plus ASSUMING you have no problem spending the Plenti points at Rite Aid or Macy’s or Exxon-Mobil or any of the other places that participate in the program.
Remember, Plenti [explainer post] is run by American Express, which is why they are able to rearrange the point chairs 🙂
PS: this only works with actual Membership Points. It does not work with the Blue Cash program.
Plenti Rewards: 10x Points at Macy’s (4 days left)
If you are participating in the Plenti rewards program, check your account for a new offer from Macy’s, good for the next four days, you get 10X points on your purchase. That’s essentially 10% back on your Macy’s purchase amount (excluding taxes and shipping). You have to first activate the offer by pressing the green button on your Plenti account. Rite Aid with Plenti: 500 points back on $25 Google Play Gift Cards
The Google Play offer is back at Rite Aid using the Plenti rewards program and this is probably the best way to get a discount for Google Play store credit at the moment. The offer is the same as before, you buy a $25 Google Play gift card at Rite Aid stores, and you receive 500 Plenti points ($5 equivalent on future purchases). The points are ready to use in your Plenti account the next day. As usual, the offer is limit two per customer for the week of September 18-24 in 2016.

Spend $50+ at Macy’s VIP Sale, Get 500 Points
Macy’s is one of the American Express inner-circle partners in the Plenti rewards program, which explains why they have good offers. This one, running until 9/18/16, gets you 500 Plenti Rewards points ($5 equivalent to spend in the future) when you make a purchase of $50+ during the Macy’s VIP sale. First you must manually activate the offer in your Plenti account. It is easier than it sounds, you just press the green button on the Plenti website or through the Plenti emails. Here’s a Screenshot of the offer:
Get 500 Plenti Points with $25 iTunes Gift Card
If you are part of the iTunes ecosystem and you are participating in the Plenti Rewards program, running until Saturday night (9/17/16) at Rite Aid stores is a promotion as follows (screenshot below; then text):
Buy a $25 iTunes plastic gift card, and get 500 Plenti points added to your account. The points show up on your purchase receipt and you can use/spend them the next morning. So before you leave the store you know that all is well with the transaction. This offer is limit two for this particular week.
Assuming you can spend the 500 points (which are $5 equivalent) in the future, this makes it a virtual 20% discount on the iTunes gift card. There are simple ways to spend Plenti points: future purchases at Rite Aid (just not ones that get you Plenti rewards like this one), and Exxon-Mobil gas stations.
Buy $50 Best Buy Gift Card, Get 800 Plenti Points
If you are participating in the Plenti Rewards program [see our Introduction], good until Saturday night 8/20/16, at Rite Aid brick and mortar stores, if you buy a $50 Best Buy Gift Card, you will earn 800 Plenti Points, which have the buying power of $8.
They don’t have preset amount Best Buy gift cards, you have to tell the cashier how much you want to load. I loaded exactly $50 and sure enough, the cash register receipt showed the 800 points, as you can see in the picture below:
So you get immediate confirmation (as soon as you pay), and the points become available to spend the next day. That’s it. You have to remember to show the cashier your Plenti card or enter your phone number. This is a limit two promotion for this shopping week.
Assuming you have no problem spending Plenti points on things you need (gas, future Rite Aid purchases, Macy’s, etc), that’s effectively a 16% off discount on everything you buy at Best Buy using this particular gift card. Not bad because that’s on top of any sales or coupons or rewards or other promotions.
July 31 – August 6: Buy $25 Google Play Gift Card, Get 600 Plenti Points
This is the best Google Play gift card deal as far as I can recall. To get it, you have to be a member of the Plenti Rewards program (free to join) and be near a Rite Aid store when the offer is running. So here’s how it goes…
For the shopping week of Sunday July 31 until the close of business on Saturday August 6 in 2016, at Rite Aid brick and mortar stores, if you are a Plenti rewards member and buy a $25 plastic Google Play Gift Card, you will receive 600 Plenti points on your account. These are the equivalent of $6 in future purchases at Rite Aid or Exxon-Mobil gas stations or Macy’s or other participating retailers. You can’t convert the points to cash, but the have the equivalent spending power. If you do the math, that’s a 24% off effective-discount assuming you’ll have no problem spending the Plenti points.
Better yet, this is a “limit 2” promotion for the whole week, so you can get two $25 gift cards and score 1200 in Plenti points.
