Prime Day is Tuesday July 12, 2016

One of the latest benefits of being a Prime Day is an annual “Prime Day” every July. This year’s Prime Day will take place on Tuesday, July 12, in 2016. Tuesday is a good choice because most people are spaced out on Mondays, recovering from the shock of going back to work and from whatever adventures they had during the weekend.

Already, Amazon has setup a Special Page with teasers of the various promotions that will be running during that day. If you are not a paying member right now, you can still participate by starting a 30-day free trial. There are free trial buttons all over the place on that page (if you are not already a Prime member ~ they don’t show those to Prime members for obvious reasons).

If you are NOT a Prime member you can start a FREE 30-Day Trial and participate in the July 12 festivities. If you don’t like the Prime membership, make sure you cancel it before the 30 days are over, and you won’t be charged.

Subsidized Phone: BLU R1 HD for $60 (Prime members only)

There’s a new development in the world of phone-buying and this time around it’s not T-Mobile that is changing things up, but rather Amazon. This new promotion is available to Prime members only, and borrows from the Kindle e-reader Special Offers philosophy. You get the phone at a discounted price and for that you get Special Offers on your Lock Screen, below your Notifications and have Amazon apps pre-installed on your device. This is still a no-contract unlocked phone, with the only exception being the Amazon subsidy restrictions.

The first phone to participate in this promotion is the brand new Blu R1 HD. It is available as either a 1GB RAM with 8GB on-board storage for $50 subsidized (or $100 unsubsidized), or 2GB RAM with 16GB on-board storage for $60 subsidized (or $110 unsusbisized). The decision between the two is crystal clear. For an extra $10, you have to to get the 2GB RAM and 16GB on-board storage. You will have fewer performance and multi-tasking restrictions with twice the RAM and internal storage!

Prime members: Buy $5 Snack Bar Sampler, Get $5 Credit for Future Purchase of similar

We continue to check the hot new promotion that is the Amazon Sampler Boxes, restricted to Prime members only. We already covered the $10 Protein Sampler and the $5 Snack Sampler but there’s a third box that is related, this time it is a $5 Snack Bar Sample Box. You will receive at least five samples. There may (or may not) be some overlap with the other two categories in terms of sample uniqueness, but they are all edible 🙂

Just like before, when you reach the last step in the Checkout page (see screenshot with drawings above), you will get confirmation in the main section of the shopping cart that your order is eligible for this promotion. But that’s not all, you also get a confirmation in the right sidebar, below your order total (screenshot below):

Prime Members: Buy $5 Snack Box, Get $5 Credit Towards Future Purchase of Snacks

The Post Office (or UPS or whichever delivery services are tasked with this) are going to be very busy delivering Amazon sample boxes in the next few days. Amazon is rolling these type of promotions faster than I can type 🙂

I already mentioned the most versatile promotion of this lot (the Protein Bar offer). This one is not as good but the price is definitely right.

So the routine is the same as before, you have to be a Prime member. You buy this Snacks Sample Box for $5 with free shipping. You are guaranteed to get at least five snack items, but no guarantees you will receive a specific brand.

Prime members: Buy $10 Protein Bar Sample Box, Get $10 Credit for Future Protein Bar Order

We have good news for you if you are a Prime member and like to try different protein bars! Amazon is expanding its “Sample Box with Credit” promotions. A few weeks ago we mentioned the K-Cup sampler promotion (currently unavailable). Now they are offering a similar promotion for protein bars.

If you haven’t done anything like this before, here’s the TL;DR:

  • you are a Prime member
  • you buy this $10 Protein Bar Sample Box (you get at least 8 of them)
  • One Week after Order Shipment Date (not Purchase Date), you get an email from Amazon saying they added a $10 credit to your Amazon account (this is behind the scenes, you don’t need a coupon code)
  • THEN you can use that $10 credit to buy select Protein Bars, sold by Amazon, not marketplace sellers. Over 2000 items are eligible (don’t buy these until you get your email informing you of a $10 credit!!!)

Kindle First options for April 2016: pick one from six choices

If you are a Prime member, one of your included benefits is Kindle First. Every calendar month, you can get a free pre-release e-book from a choice of six e-books, and read it one month before the rest of the world.

The choices for April 2016 are:

  • “Blood Defense (Samantha Brinkman Book 1)” by Marcia Clark in Thrillers
  • “Golden Age (The Shifting Tides Book 1)” by James Maxwell in Fantasy
  • “The Eagle Tree” by Ned Hayes in Literary Fiction
  • “The Secret Healer” by Ellin Carsta, Terry Laster in Historical Fiction
  • “Star Sand” by Roger Pulivers in War Fiction
  • “Deliver Her” by Patricia Perry Donovan in Suspense

You can see the available choices at the Kindle First page. Happy reading 🙂

Since these just came out, it make take a few days before they build up enough reviews for you to get helpful feedback on which one to pick. Remember, you have until April 30 in 2016 to pick one, but don’t wait until the last minute. The options do not roll over. If you don’t pick an ebook during a particular month, it doesn’t carry forward.

Prime members: Pay with Discover Cashback, Get $15 OFF

If you are a Prime member, Amazon has yet another promotion for you. If you make a purchase using your Discover Cashback Bonus, you can get up to $15 off your order by doing so and entering coupon code DISC16EVER in the Amazon shopping cart. This promotion only works if you hadn’t previously done this. This is a great deal because it is a 1:1 translation, $1 Discover Cashback converts to $1 in Amazon buying power. Needless to say, you need to have your eligible Discover credit card added to your Amazon account. If you had previously used that card on Amazon, it’s all good. If not, you have to follow the steps to “link” them together.
