If you are a Starbucks Rewards member, check your email or your Starbucks app. A new promotion is starting, and you must manually opt-in to the promotion by clicking the link in the email or the app. For the time period of May 26 to June 8 in 2015, you can earn 10 bonus stars if you make 14+ purchases, or 15 bonus stars if you make 18+ purchases.

Given the bonus, this is not a promotion where you go out of your way to max out, since the bonus is roughly half a star per purchase. One way to evaluate this: a single star, if you assume a $6 reward redemption (more expensive food items or large frapps), has roughly a 50 cent value. So the bonus is roughly 25c extra per purchase.

It’s raining Starbucks promotions these days! A new one just came out via email. For this one (if you are part of the Starbucks Rewards program) you have to manually enter because you have a choice. You have to purchase two of the same item between May 12-18 in 2015. You have to pre-select, either two Flat Whites, or two Breakfast Sandwiches or two Frappuccino blended beverages. If you buy two or more, you will receive six bonus stars at the end of this promotion (in addition to the regular star for each purchase). You must take action by selecting one of the three offers for this to activate!

Between May 5-11 in 2015, if you are a Starbucks Rewards member, you can earn 3 bonus stars (in addition to the one standard star) when you purchase any breakfast sandwich (eight different choices). You can use this promotion as many times as you like. No coupon code needed and no opt-in required. The usual terms and conditions apply for these type of promotions.

Assuming a 50c value per Reward star (assuming you redeem your Reward on a $6~ item). you are effectively getting $2 off per qualifying purchase.

There is a new promotion running April 21 to 27 in 2015 that gets you four bonus stars (in addition to the one regular star) when you purchase either a hot or iced hand-crafted (eg not bottled) espresso-based drinks. You can use this promotion as many times as you like during this time period. This happens automatically, there’s no opt-in, and no coupon code.

With a single Starbucks reward point worth up to 50 cents (eg if you redeem your free item for a $6 food or drink item), getting five stars total (four bonus plus one regular) for a drink it’s pretty good.
