10% off future Vudu purchases if you “Convert to Digital”

If you are planning to make any Vudu purchases, a new email that went out to their customer list mentions a new promotion. If you “convert to digital” by 1/22/18 at 11:59pm pacific time, you will be eligible to receive by email a couple of days later a coupon that will get you 10% off your next Vudu purchase.

If you are not familiar with “Convert to Digital”, it’s a Vudu/Walmart services that lets you buy a digital copy of your DVDs for an extra fee. DVDs are typically $2. You have to use an app to verify your DVD copy. This is a good way to go if you want to thin out your physical DVD library. This is especially good for movies that are hard to find on Netflix or Amazon Prime, or movies that keep moving from one streaming service to another every few weeks [so annoying!].

Connect Two Services to Movies Anywhere, Get FIVE FREE MOVIES

A new movie library syncing and playback service expanded out of Disney’s Movies Anywhere. It’s the new Movies Anywhere service that includes Disney along with four other major studios (Sony, WB, 20th Century, Universal).

Movies purchased on Vudu, iTunes, Google Play and Amazon Instant Video, or Digital Copy or Ultraviolet movies redeemed through those services, from those participating studios, are now able to get synced across those services and also into the Movies Anywhere app/service. (which can also play those movies by the way – unlike that darned Ultraviolet mess).

We have for you a step by step guide, with some screenshots too, on how to setup and connect Movies Anywhere. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment here or there.

For a limited time, in an attempt to encourage more people to sign up for the service, Movies Anywhere is offering up to five free movies if you connect one or two services to it.

Free Movies with Ads from Vudu

If you like to stream movies but hate to pay a monthly fee or buy/rent movies or you are looking for specific movies that are not already available through your current services, there is a new alternative now, a new services launched by Vudu called Movies On Us, or perhaps a more realistic name for it, “Vudu with Ads” 🙂

There are hundreds of movies available, along with nearly 600 documentaries and two dozen TV shows. TV shows are its weakest point, the most famous of them is Syfy’s Dresden Files. Documentaries are perhaps your best bet with this service, as they feature a variety of topics, including some good choices on music (both performance and meta).

Movies are older but there’s a lot of them, and they are recognizable, it’s not like it’s filled with straight to DVD movies 🙂 You get titles such as “Carrie”, “Margin Call”, “Phantom of the Opera”, “Star Dust”, “Aeon Flux”, Star Trek Nemesis”, “Dead Man Walking”, “Midnight Cowboy”, “Narc” and more.

Overall, this is a good idea if you can stomach ads and/or don’t like to pay 🙂

Free Horror Pilot Episodes on Vudu

In addition to Walking Dead Season 1 being on sale, just in time for Halloween, the Vudu video streaming service is offering a nice variety of pilot episodes for various horror-themed TV shows for FREE. Note: some of them are not pilots but the starts of a particular season, as some shows are more season anthologies.

You can see the complete list which includes among others:

  • Preacher, Ash Vs Evil Dead, Supernatural
  • Z Nation, The Strain, Teen Wolf
  • The Exorcist, GRIMM, Scream, Vampire Diaries
  • Walking Dead (S6E1), American Horror Story (S1), Penny Dreadful
