If you are tempted by Apple TV or you want to be among the first to try the new HBO Now service that looks like it may need an Apple device to sign-up for during the first three months, the $70 Apple TV is the lowest entry point, since iPhones, iPads and iPods are more expensive. I believe the apps will need at least iOS 7, because HBO Now uses the technology from the MLB (yes, baseball) streaming service, and their apps are at least iOS 7. So if you have older iPods/iPhones/etc, they may not be good enough.
So if you are certain you are going to buy Apple TV pretty soon, there is a two step process to get it for the equivalent of $60~ instead. Still in new condition. As long as you shop at Staples or don’t object to shopping at Staples.
Step One: For a limited time, PayPal’s Digital Gift Card store on eBay has this offer: Pay $85, Get $100 Staples Electronic Gift Card, delivered by e-mail. Limit three per buyer. The gift cards can be used at any Staples stores in the USA.
Step Two: Then with this $100 electronic gift card in hand (or on your smartphone), you can visit your local Staples brick and mortar store and purchase the Apple TV for $70. Since you paid $85 for the $100 gift card, your payment equivalent is around $60. You can use the rest on anything else they sell. Or use it on their free after Easy Rebate promotions which will eventually convert them back to cash.
NOTE: if your local stores do not have the Apple TV in-store, you can still buy it through the website or the kiosk and make the payment at the cash register in store, so you can use your electronic gift card (which can not be used online for whatever 19th century technology reason).
