TIP/PROBLEM if you have Kindle Unlimited and Prime
If you are a Prime member, signing up for Kindle Unlimited (KU), in practical terms, makes it impossible to get your monthly Kindle Lending Library ebook rental, since most of the Prime Lending Library choices are also part of Kindle Unlimited. Their system favors Kindle Unlimited over Prime Lending when a book is participating in both programs. So the various ebook pages show KU and bury the Prime option. Since you can only pick Lending Library ebooks from a Kindle device, it is a big pain to try to find books that are not part of Kindle Unlimited, but part of Prime. This is not a big deal, since you can check-in/check-out as many times as you like with KU, but still, it would have been nice if they made it easier for Prime users.
We have a mini “reading” theme this week. If you love reading a lot of e-books or trying different authors or genres without breaking the bank, or looking up a lot of diverse reference topics, you may be interested in a Kindle Unlimited membership. Especially because on Tuesday 11/3/15, at 5pm Eastern (2pm pacific), according to the Gold Box at Amazon, there is going to be a limited time offer (aka lightning deal) on a six month Kindle Unlimited subscription.
The regular price is $60, which is the regular $10 per month price. The sale price will be revealed over there when it goes live, at 5pm ET on Tuesday. You can also send this as a gift other people. It’s like Netflix for e-books, you can read as much as you want (but you can only have 10 e-books “checked out” at any one time; however, you can check-in/check-out as often as you like). You do not own any of the books. Once your subscription ends, the ebooks disappear from your devices since you were renting them.
