4oz Faeries Finest Darjeeling Tea for $2.92 [updated]

UPDATE (11/3/15): this sold-out: For a limited time only, at Amazon, you can get 4oz of the Faeries Finest Rose Tea loose leaf tea for $1.72. There are only seven left as of the time of writing and you can buy them all if you want. This is for explorers and experimenters since it has zero customer reviews. This brand has over 2900 products listed at Amazon. Per the description of this particular tea, it is a Formosa (Taiwan) oolong tea, infused with natural rose flavor.

If you feel like going in a tea exploration binge, this is not their only tea on sale. When you peruse their kitchen listings, you will find a 4oz Darjeeling loose-leaf tea for $2.92 (no flavorings, just tea leaves!), a 4oz Lemon Mint for $2.40 (contains flavors), 1oz of Wuyi Oolong for $2.30, and more. I can’t go through 200+ products, so that’s your homework 🙂

One catch however is that this is an Add-On Item, which means you have to place an order of $25 or more, otherwise their shopping cart will not let you check-out, even if you want to pay for shipping. This restriction includes everyone, Prime members too.

The other benefit of going through those listings is to check for reviews. Some of their products have reviews, others don’t, so you can get a broad feel for the company.

I personally haven’t tried any of the teas mentioned above, but I will be placing an order of probably the darjeeling and the rose-oolong because the price is right 🙂 I tried one of their teas before, the white tea with rose petals which was in a similar type of a random discount last year.

NOTE: discounts like these happen at Amazon but they don’t last long. They are unpredictable from our perspective, so they could last for hours or days or weeks.

UPDATE: here’s another one, 4oz Ceylon tea for $2.52. This is loose-leaf tea from Sri Lanka, no flavorings.

PS: if you are having a geography flashback, the reason the tea names have not changed to match the new country names (Formosa-Taiwan, Ceylon-Sri_Lanka) is because the teas have a long following and changing the names would potentially confuse buyers and hurt the brand. Especially since the world of tea is getting more competitive, with more regions and more countries jumping in the game. Including Oregon and South Carolina!

[DEAD] 3 lbs Bencheley Peppermint Tea for $9.34 total

This was too good of an offer to last long. As of 10/15/15, the price is $20+, still not a bad price but definitely nowhere near as good as $9~ :)…

They have both loose leaf and tea bag options. Some teas have both, but most of them are either one or the other. Their website not only carries tea tins, but there you can also buy some of their teas in bulk bags of either 1/2 lb or 1 lb.

Some of their teas are carried at some grocery stores and specialty retailers. It is likely that at some point (if they haven’t done already) those retailers too will put them on sale. Typically you’ll find tea bags there.

Tea Clearance at Peet’s Coffee

Both at the Peet’s Coffee website and their brick and mortar stores, you may find a clearance on their house brand tea products, both loose leaf and tea bags. This is because Peet’s purchased Mighty Leaf and they are going to shift all tea products under the Mighty Leaf brand. The sale currently is 25% off the regular Peet’s prices which is a pretty good deal since these rarely went on sale. Plus they come in some very nice tins that have a pretty good seal. You can also check their website for potential deals.

5 oz Tattle Tea Loose Leaf Orange Pekoe for $2.33 (limit 10)

If you like standard loose leaf black tea, for a limited time (the prices go all over the place), you can get a 5 oz sealed bag of Tattle Tea Loose Leaf tea for just $2.33 per bag with a limit of ten per customer at amazon.com. There is a catch to this however, it is part of the Add-On program, which means you must place a $25+ order, otherwise you will not be able to purchase it. This restriction applies to everyone, including Prime members. Tattle Tea prices are all over the board, just look at their various options.

This is a pretty low price per ounce. For comparison, one of the best sellers at Amazon is the Davidson’s 1 lb Gunpowder Green going for $10 which averages 62.5c per oz, and that’s on triple the quantity in a generic bag.

June 21-27: 100pk Lipton Tea for $3 (or $2.50 with coupon)

For the week of June 21-27 (2015) at Walgreens stores, you can get a 100 pack of Lipton tea bags for $3. This is the sale price without coupons. However, in the Sunday papers there will be a 50c off coupon, which will bring the price down to $2.50. That’s about 2.5c per tea bag!

Of course you can beat that price if you go to a Dollar Store or at Walmart supermarkets where you may be able to find 100pks of tea for around $1. Of course they are going to be generic or unnamed brands, versus Lipton.

Peets Online Clearance: FORLIFE Brew-in-Mug for $4

The Peets Coffee online store has a clearance sale on select accessories. The prices are very good however, you need to place an order of $59 or more in order to get free shipping. So you have to factor in the price of shipping on top of the very good clearance prices. Here are some temptations:

Keep in mind, this is a clearance sale, so items will eventually sell out…

22pk Zhena Gypsy Coconut Chai Tea for $4

At Smart and Final brick and mortar stores, for a limited time, the Zhena Gypsy 22pk Coconut Chai tea canisters are on sale for $4 each. These are tea sachets, not good old tea bags. They have this flavor with Black tea and also with Green tea. This is a great price, it handily defeats the Amazon Subscribe & Save price. It even handily beats their 6-pack S&S price! These teas average 4.5 out of 5 based on 110+ customer reviews combined over there. Not to mention that you also get to keep their container!

16pk Yogi Honey Lavender Stress Relief Tea for $2.88 (no limits)

If the Yogi Honey Lavender Stress Relief Tea is one of your favorite teas, you can stock up and give them away as gifts with this limited time offer at Amazon. Their 16-pack is on sale for $2.88. You can buy as many as you like. They are part of the Amazon Add-On program, so you must place an order of $25 or more in order for the shopping cart to allow you to buy them. They average 4.5 out of 5 based on 300+ customer reviews. This sale price for one unit handily beats the price for the 6-pack!

Also on sale for the same price is the 16pk of Yogi Caramel Apple Spice Slim Life Tea (averages 4 out of 5 based on 171 customer reviews).

NOTE: if you sign up for Subscribe and Save, you only lock this sale price for the order you place now. Future orders will be priced at whatever the price is going to be when your future subscriptions are shipped!

8.82oz Temple of Heaven Gunpowder Loose Leaf Green Tea for $6.25

If you are a fan of the gunpowder green tea, the 8.82oz Temple of Heaven loose leaf pack is on sale for around $6.25 by various sellers with the orders fulfilled by Amazon. Amazon actual does not offer it. It averages 3.9 out of 5 based on 48 customer reviews.

14oz Forlife Bell Glass Teapot with Removable Infuser for $20.22

If you are not picky on colors, you can score the 14oz Forlife Bell Glass Teapot with a removaable stainless steel basket infuser for $20.22 at Amazon.com. This is the lowest priced among the twelve different color options as of the time of writing. They are all the same, except for the color of the ring-lid. This is great if you are making multiple infusions or brewing small quantities of tea at a time. It averages 4.3 out of 5 based on 12 customer reviews. Free 2-day shipping if you are a Prime member, or free super-saver shipping with a $35+ order. You can buy as many as you like, this is not a lightning deal.

20pk Tazo Teas for $3 per box (limited options)

At Smart and Final stores, good until 6/7/15, you can buy 20pk Tazo teas (tea bags) for $3 per box. They do not carry the full Tazo line-up obviously, but among others, I spotted the Awake breakfast tea and the Zen tea, which, if I recall correctly, was the default iced green tea at Starbucks stores before they purchased Teavana and replaced Tazo teas with their own. Availability and options will likely vary in different S&F stores, so there is some YMMV to this.
