Choices for May 2017 Kindle First are up (pick one of six for FREE as Prime member)

May 2017 is here, and if you are a Prime member, this means you can get another brand new pre-release e-book for FREE! If you are not a Prime member, you buy one of the choices below for $2. The rest will become available June 1st and most likely will all be in Kindle Unlimited, so if you are a member of that program, you can just wait until June 🙂

So without further delay, here are the Kindle First choices for May 1st until the end of day on the 31st:

  • “North Haven” by Sarah Moriarty in Contemporary Fiction
  • “The Lioness of Morocco” by Julia Drosten, Christiane Galvani in Historical Fiction
  • “The Great Passage” by Shion Miura, Juliet Winters Carpenter in Lit Fiction
  • “The Hundredth Queen (The Hundredth Queen Series Book 1)” by Emily R. King in Fantasy
  • “The First Word” by Isley Robson in Romance
  • “Dead Certain: A Novel” by Adam Mitzner in Psychological Thrillers (already hammered in the early reviews)

My pick for this month is…

Book #2 is already scheduled to come out in September 2017, so you don’t have to wait for it like “The Winds of Winter” 🙂

T-Mobile Tuesdays for 5/2/17 have a Mother’s Day theme

The Tuesday May 2nd (2017) freebies at T-Mobile Tuesdays have a Mother’s Day theme. You start the day with a free Edible Arrangements Pineapple Pop. Then get to your computer and create a free Mother’s Day app using the Inkly app. After that, it’s time to read, a 1-year digital subscription to Fortune magazine (yes, the one whose website has those annoying roadblock ads). Last and decidedly least is a $15 off coupon at VistaPrint (whose offers you can find piling on in your spam folder) 🙂

Trolling aside, this is a pretty good haul, assuming you have an Edible Arrangements facility near you to redeem the freebie 🙂

Lyft and Vudu headline April 18 T-Mobile Tuesdays

T-Mobile cellular plans have become more carrier (than uncarrier) in recent months, but the Tuesday freebies continue to roll! For April 18 in 2017, there are five freebies. Sort of. Two are pretty good, a $5 Vudu credit (you can use it for rental or purchase or movies or purchase of TV shows (single episodes or towards season passes), and a $5 Lyft Line credit. Next up, T-Mobile will plant a tree for you, which is nice for the planet 🙂 It is Earth Day Week after all!

The other two are more on the meh side. You get 50% off Eco-Cards, which is useful only if you are a fan of the brand, and $25 credit to use at Restaurant.com, which is nowhere near as good as it sounds. Be sure to look up how things works there before you commit any money to it. Of course the T-Mo freebie doesn’t cost you anything, so you lose nothing by claiming it.

FREE: “Deathless” by Catherynne Valente (ends 4/16/17)

Unlike the Kindle First freebies that begin like clockwork on the first of every month, the Tor monthly e-book club is a bit more floating in time and space. I suppose it makes sense since they specialize in fantasy and scifi 🙂 Their April 2017 freebie, which you must needs claim by the end of day on April 16 (2017) is “Deathless” by Catherynne Valente.

As usual, you have to enter your email address at the eBook Club page and play the email ping-pong until you get a download link. Their freebies are DRM-free so you can load them on any device or app you want as long as it can read ePUB or MOBI. You can download or both of the formats. eBooks are small (compared to other media), so it doesn’t hurt to get both 🙂

T-Mobile Tuesdays for April 11 get you a free digital magazine

The headliner of the Tuesday April 11 (2017) freebies for T-Mobile customers are headlined by a 1-year digital subscription to a magazine, from a choice of thirteen from the home, fashion, lifestyle and beauty categories, including heavy-hitters like Cosmo and Marie Claire and Esquire and Redbook. The complete list can be found in the app over there.

The other freebies are a continuation of the Dunkin Donuts $2 credit, and the first time (as far as I can recall) of RedBox. Yes a free 1-night movie rental. I suspect this will be a DVD, not a BluRay. If you have multiple lines, you should be able to get one per line.

$5 to spend at Kohls (check emails)

If you are signed-up for the Kohls e-mail newsletters, make sure you check them! One of them for April 6 has a personalized coupon code that gets you $5 off a purchase of $5 or more at your local Kohls brick and mortar stores. The coupon is good until the close of business on Sunday April 9, and can only be used in-store. This has to be used on a single transaction of $5+. The usual Kohls coupon exclusions for promotions of this kind apply.

Per the email, the coupon is also stackable with two other promotions, the $10/$50 promotion (get $10 Kohls Cash for every $50 you spend) and the 15% to 20% off coupon on your purchase. These coupons have different expiration days.

There are also recurring promotions on Kohls at the Discover website. Check the “Discover Deals” section there to see if their computers are targeting you for the promotion.

Free Bagel Every Day in April 2017 at Panera (YMMV)

Panera Bread is running another promotion fro select Panera Rewards members that is definitely YMMV. If you are eligible for this promotion, you should have an email in your inbox that informs you of this promotion. You get a free bagel per day (no spread of course, just the bagel) for the whole month of April 2017 at their Panera stores. You have to use your Panera rewards card, which I’m assuming is how they are keeping track and enforcing the one per day thing 🙂

It is a bit of a razor and blades thing, because who is going to eat just a bagel without a spread and without coffee or tea or some other liquid to push it down? 🙂

I rarely go to Panera, which is perhaps why I have been targeted with this and similar promotions. Sometimes companies run offers like this to “encourage” customers to visit more often and develop a habit. Which is why they are running it for a month. If you get used to going to Panera for a whole month, chances are, a percentage of those people will continue going there after the promotion is over. Why pay money for ads (which annoy most people) when you can instead spend the money giving potential customers free food? 🙂

They previously had offers with free coffee as well, which is a more freerider-friendly freebie since you can drink coffee on its own and get free refills if you stay in-store 🙂

April 2017 Kindle First Choices are out, pick one out of six

It’s a new month, and April Fools Day to boot, but this post is no Fools joke! It is a new selection of Kindle First e-books, where Prime members can select one of the six choices for FREE and also start reading them immediately. These are pre-release ebooks that will get released May 1st for most people. Non-Prime members can buy one of the six for $2 and read them right away as well.

T-Mobile reveals the April 4 (2017) Tuesday freebies ahead of time

T-Mobile typically waits for a couple days after Tuesday to reveal next week’s freebies, but April 4 is special, because that’s when they will offer a 1-YEAR MLB.TV subscription for FREE to all T-Mobile customers eligible for the Tuesdays freebies. They already did it last year, it’s true as it says, you get a free full subscription for the baseball season.

So today they spilled the beans via press release, the Tuesday April 4 (2017) will have a baseball theme. In addition to the MLB.tv biggie, we’ll get a VUDU baseball movie rental (I don’t know if that’s a store credit or actually restricted to select movies), along with the $2 Dunkin’ Donuts promo returning.

More freebies may get added later on, or not. Regardless, the 1-year MLB subscription is worth half a year’s worth of typical Tuesday freebies 🙂

T-Mobile Tuesdays for March 28 include Dunkin Donuts and FandangoNOW and coupons [updated]

UPDATE 3/28/17: On actual Tuesday, in addition to the $2 Dunkin Donuts promo code, an additional $5 Dunkin Donuts promo code appeared in my account. Personally it’s useless since there are no DD stores nearby, which is probably why I got it 😉

ORIGINAL POST
Another week has rolled over and we are getting close to another T-Mobile Tuesday. For March 28 in 2017, we have a new entry and three returnees. Apparently the Dunkin Donuts promo was popular enough last week, they added it to this week’s rotation after the initial schedule came out. It’s a $2 credit to spend at a Dunkin’ Donuts store ~ assuming there are some near you 🙂

The new entry is a coupon, $20 off tickets purchased at Gametime. Another coupon returns, it’s the 25c per gallon discount at Shell Gas stations. Of interest only to those who already refuel at Shell 🙂

Lucky Rewards: FREE Teddy’s Root Beer on the weekend

UPDATE: so all you need the app for is to load the offer into your Lucky’s rewards account. You don’t need to use the app in-store. So you can install the app, add the freebie to your card, and uninstall the app. It is horrid permissions-wise (Google Play), and it keeps pestering you to turn on Bluetooth. Why the f*ck does a grocery store app need Bluetooth? Which is why it is a good idea to have a phone running Android 6.0 or later, so you can tame some of the out of control permission grabs!

ORIGINAL POST
If you are participating in the Lucky’s Rewards program (it helps if you are near a Lucky’s store), they are back with a new freebie, but this time, you can only claim the freebie using the official Lucky’s app, and you can only redeem it during the weekend. The freebie is a 26oz Teddy’s Root Beer or Ginger Ale. One per customer. You have to claim it using their app, and only on Friday, Saturday or Sunday (March 24-26 in 2017). Enjoy March Madness with a free root beer 🙂

PS: their app is free, you just have to login with your account. If you are worried about permission over-reach, if you are using Android 6.0 or later, you can reign in any permissions you may find objectionable.

FREE (no DRM) Book #1 of Stormlight Archive until Wednesday PM

This is a huge bang for the buck! A 600-page e-book is given away for FREE (and DRM-free) by Tor publishing. It is book #1 of a planned 10-part “Stormlight Archive” book series by Brandon Sanderson. Book #3 is coming out later in 2017, so the giveaway is go generate more interest in the book series and convert freebie-readers into life-long fans (Sanderson writes A LOT and he writes FAST). The book title is “The Way of Kings” – nearly 5000 reviews at amazon.com with a 4.7 out of 5.

This is an unapologetic fantasy book series but with very minimal sexual contest. To the point where the lack of sexual content requires more suspension of disbelief than the fantasy elements of the story 🙂

The giveaway ends Wednesday 3/24/17 night. It is open to US and Canada only due to publishing contracts and such. It is available without DRM in two formats, Mobi and ePUB. You can download both if you like. You have to enter your email address to get the giveaway. Tor is a very respectable entity, you don’t have to worry about abuse of your email.

T-Mobile Tuesdays for 3/21/17 has a $2 theme [Update: 25% off UE speaker]

UPDATE 3/21/17: but wait, there’s more! You may also get a second $5 Dunkin Donuts bonus. Check the website or app to see if you are eligible. If you are, it should look like this:

But if you live in a health-conscious region that drove the donuts stores away, you can’t use this 🙁

T-Mobile Tuesdays for March 14 include Chipotle Guac and Chips

REDEMPTION DAY: The offer is now live! To get your free chips and guac, you login to the T-Mobile Tuesdays website or app, and proceed. It takes you to a Chipotle promotional website where you have to enter your information. The promotional code will be sent via text, so make sure you enter the correct number there!

Once you enter your info, you will receive a text message. Mine arrived within seconds. The text message has a link. You open that with a web browser, and it has a computer-readable code with the offer. You can bookmark the page, take a screenshot, or even save it to Android PAY!

You must claim the offer by 5am ET on Wednesday, but once you claim the offer, you have until 3/31/17 to use it (get the free guac and chips).

ORIGINAL POST:
Chipotle is boldly going with a T-Mobile Tuesdays freebie. If it wasn’t for the e-coli troubles of a few months ago, this would have been impossible to get #cynic 🙂 Regardless, on Tuesday March 14 in 2017, the headliner of the T-Mobile Tuesdays freebies is a free guacamole and chips at Chipotle. Assuming this is the standard size you can buy at their stores (and not a smaller T-Mobile sample size), this is a meal-size side ~ at least in terms of calories 🙂 And it’s pretty yummy, salt and avocados 🙂

The other freebies include the useful FandangoNOW movie rental (up to $5 towards a single movie rental or the purchase of a TV show ~ which is nice) and two $5 Lyft ride credits. Lyft has been offering T-Mobile credits long before Uber got in trouble in various different ways 🙂

PS: don’t forget to check on April 4 if you are a baseball fan, they will offer 1-Year Subscription of MLB.tv. They already offer this promotion the previous season, it’s legit!

Save the Date: April 4 gets you 1-year of MLB Premium At Bat subscription (T-Mobile Tuesdays)

If you are a fan of Major League Softball (okay, Baseball, but it’s sports smack week) and you are a T-Mobile customer, make sure you don’t miss the Tuesday April 4 (2017) freebies, because one of them will be a 1-year FREE subscription to the MLB Premium At Bat streaming package. This is a season-long subscription, just like last year. The usual exclusions apply, regional blackouts and the like.

They have an official teaser at the Tuesdays websites (see screenshot below):
