March 2017 ebook options are up at Samsung Book Deals

Every month a number of places give out free e-books. The Kindle First program is not the only one. If you have a Samsung device that is eligible to participate in the Samsung Book Deals, and if you have installed the Kindle app from Samsung’s own app store (not Google Play, not Amazon’s app store), then you can head over to the “Book Deals” section of the app, and select one free ebook from a choice of four.

The March 2017 Tor e-Book Freebie is READY!

If you like to read FREE and DRM-free e-books, you have until March 13 in 2017 to scoop up the March 2017 freebie from Tor. The free book given away this month at their Monthly e-Book Club is “Shadow & Claw” by Gene Wolfe. You have to enter your email for this. After that you can download the book in ePUB (everybody else) and MOBI (Kindle). You can download both versions, you don’t have to select one of each.

These typically start earlier in the month, but for March 2017, they got a late start. But you still have the same amount of time (one week) to claim the freebie 🙂

T-Mobile Tuesday freebies for March 7 are media-centric

UPDATE: the free pizza promotion (for the remaining customers (lines) who didn’t get it before) was not mentioned in the app teasers, but it appeared to the lines of everyone who should have, it will look like this in your Tuesdays app:

Media is the theme of the Tuesday March 7 (2017) for T-Mobile customers. It is a mix of digital freebies and real-world coupons. The good news is that the FandangoNOW offer has been improved. Now you can also use your $5 credit towards the purchase of TV shows. You can still use it towards a movie rental. Unless they changed something (to make it like the much better Vudu offer), you can only rent one movie, even if it costs less than $5. We’ll have to wait and see on Tuesday! I’ll test it out and post an update as soon as I can.

The other digital freebie is a one month ad-free subscription to the Slacker music streaming service. Slacker is also part of the prizes (the ones without the magenta gift icon on the left side), so you may want to play those silly app and web games if you want to have a chance at winning a bigger Slacker prize.

The other two offers are coupons. You can get 50% off George Strait concert tickets, and the usual 25% off at Papa John’s pizza.

Not shown in the teaser of the time of writing, but it should be there according to previous Tuesday postings is the last round of FREE Papa John’s pizza. This is on a line by line basis, not by T-Mobile account, so be sure to check all your lines!

T-Mobile Tuesday freebies for 2/28: free eBook, discounts at Travelocity, Movies, Papa Johns (plus 1/4th get free pizza)

T-Mobile Tuesdays end the month with a mix of freebies and coupons. For February 28 in 2017, current T-Mobile customers will receive:

  • one freebie (an ebook from a choice of ten at BookShout; not as good as it sounds – you can only read it using the BookShout apps or website)
  • two coupons: $30 off at Travelocity, 25% off at Papa Johns Pizza
  • discounted movie ticket: $4 but you can use it all week, not just Tuesady

In addition to the above, about 1/4th of T-Mobile Customers (or T-Mobile lines – I don’t know if they do this by line or customer, neither of my lines got free pizza so far) will receive a free large Papa John’s Pizza.

T-Mobile Tuesdays for 2/21/17: Movie Rental, Discounts, and some get Free PIZZA

The freebies for the 2/21/17 T-Mobile Tuesdays are not as good as the Valentine’s bundle of last week. It looks like T-Mo is saving some of the best freebies for special holidays and events 🙂 The freebies for this week including another FandangoNOW movie rental (single movie, price up to $5) and two coupons, 25c off per gallon of gas at Shell (great for anyone who already refills at Shell; meh for everybody else), and 25% off a Papa John’s pizza.

But the best deal is the free pizza, which is going to be available roughly to 1/4th of the T-Mobile customers each week until March 7th. T-Mobile is rotating the customers who get this freebie (check the Tuesdays official app every Tuesday), to prevent what happened a few months ago when Domino’s pizza stores got overwhelmed with hungry Tuesday guests.

T-Mobile Freebies for 2/14/17 include Free Socks, Movie Rental, Lyft and Pizza coupons (and 1/4th will get a FREE PIZZA)

UPDATE 2/14/17: here they are! The store I went to was well stocked and was not busy, so if you are worried about crowds – don’t – go and grab the freebies 🙂 There are two color options, the black-white-red (below) and a white-red-black.

T-Mobile has planned one of their best freebie Tuesdays for Valentine’s Day, February 14 in 2017. There is a brand new freebie, a pair of T-Mobile branded Valentine-themed socks you can pick up at your local T-Mobile store. This is the second time they are doing an offer of this type, they had previously offered gloves and beanie hats. Both stores I checked had plenty of stock, and socks are less of a “sexy” freebie than hats and gloves. The offer is one per line, but some stores may only give one freebie (one freebie is _two_ socks) per person, so you may want to visit more than one store if you have two personal lines.

From there on, we have two returning offers, a free movie rental (up to $5 in value) at FandangoNOW. The $5 amount can only be used towards one rental. You can’t use it to rent five 99c movies. If the movie rental amount is more than $5, you have to pay the different out of your own offer.

The other two offers are the usual Lyft ride coupon (up to $15 per ride), and a new 25% off coupon at Papa John’s pizza.

1/4th of the Customers get FREE PIZZA

The above offers are available to all eligible customers. In addition to that, about 1/4th of T-Mobile customers (or Lines to be more specific) will be getting a free large Papa John’s pizza with online order and carryout. The offer will run for four weeks, with 1/4th of customers getting the freebie each week. The Tuesdays app will tell you whether it’s your turn. More details on our explainer post.

T-Mobile Tuesdays add a new twist: Free Papa John’s Carryout Pizza within the next four weeks

UPDATE 3/4/17: It turns out the Papa John’s locations near me are closed, so I can’t do this promotion. But I took the screenshots for you. When it’s your turn, you will have an extra block in your Tuesday freebies announcing that it’s your turn. This is per line, so be sure to check all your lines!

As you can see in the screenshots below, you have the whole seven days to redeem this, you don’t have to rush on Tuesday like the crazy old Domino’s offer when the Tuesdays program launched.

Here is a close-up of the terms and conditions and nuances. Unfortunately I can’t do this offer, so I have no further insight:

UPDATE 2/28/17: it looks like the FREE Pizza is randomly offered on a per line basis, not a per account basis. One of my two lines got a free pizza, the other one didn’t. I will update with screenshots and details after I redeem the offer later on. The other nice thing about the free pizza is that you can redeem it throughout the week, in this case until 3/6/17. So by doing this, they are avoiding the chaos that befell Domino’s when every single T-Mobile customer got a free pizza on a single day. With this approach, it is spread out over 28 days.

Very smart move ~ because if it works well for all parties, they will do more. Domino’s got scared out of it and stopped doing it.

ORIGINAL POST

T-Mobile has a new twist in their Tuesday freebies. Instead of everybody getting the freebie on the same date, T-Mobile customers will be randomly split into four groups. For the next four Tuesdays (February 14, 21, 28 and March 7), about 1/4th each week will get a free Papa Johns pizza. You have to check the app every Tuesday to see which one is your Tuesday.

The freebie is pretty good, a large one-topping or pan pizza, with online carryout and online order placement. I am assuming this freebie is one per line, and if so, you may want to check all your T-Mobile lines if you have more than one line in your account.

This is the first time they split the offer in four, so we are in new territory. This is however a good idea, because the previous times they tried a pizza promotion (with Domino’s), the pizza company complained they were getting overwhelmed by hungry T-Mobile customers. So hopefully the 4-part split will make things easier for all parties involved (easier for us to get the freebies too!).

T-Mobile Tuesdays for 2/7/17 takes a Valentine’s theme

It’s a Valentine’s theme for Tuesday February 7, 2017 offers for current T-Mobile customers. It is a trio of offers, all three of them coupons really. The centerpiece is $15 off and free shipping at 1-800-Flowers. Then, the date continue with a $25 off coupon at restaurant.com (mostly useless), and a $2 movie-theater ticket through the Fandango proper service (not to be confused with their TV/movie FandangoNOW service which is M-Go rebranded).

Overall, a rather meh Tuesday – in my opinion that is 🙂

Free Samsung Books choices for February 2017 are out

If you have a participating Samsung device, and you have installed the Kindle app from Samsung’s own Android app store (not Google Play or Amazon’s), you may be eligible to get one free e-book every month from a choice of four. Some devices are eligible for this benefit for the life of the account/device, while others only have it for a year. You can tell if you are eligible by looking at the price of the ebooks, if it’s $0.00, you are eligible 🙂

Unlike Kindle First, the Samsung Book Deals are NOT new releases. Almost all of them are previously released ebooks that are part of Kindle unlimited. The plus side of this is that most of them have a handful of customer reviews, so you can use those to help you select which one of the four to get for free.

So without further ado, here are the four choices:

  • “Lily Love” by Maggi Myers
  • “Artful” by Patrick David
  • “Plea of insanity” by Jilliane Hoffman
  • “Lord of the Nile” by Constance O’Banyon

FREE until February 7: The Tor Monthly FREE eBook

Good until February 7 (2017), you can get the ebook “The Bloodline Feud” for FREE in DRM-free ePUB and .mobi by signing up for the Tor emailing list at the Tor eBook Club. They offer a new ebook every month, but the catch is that you have to claim it within the first week of them. Unlike Kindle First which runs for the whole month.

PS: if you are already signed up for their emails, page further down on the download page and look for the “Already Registered?” section. You enter your email (the one you used to sign-up for the list) and then you get the download options.

Kindle First choices for February 2017 are up

Time flies these days and we are now in February 2017, which means, among many other things, a new round of six pre-release e-books are loaded up on Kindle First. These will be released to the general public on March 1st, but if you are a Prime member, you can get one of those six RIGHT NOW and start reading it RIGHT NOW for FREE. If you are not a Prime-member, you can buy one right now for $2. The rest will be available to everyone on March 1st for $5 each. Many of these end up appearing in Kindle Unlimited, so if you are a subscriber to that service, you can bookmark them until then…

So, without further delay, the six choices are:

  • “Extracted Trilogy Book #1” by RR Haywood in Scifi (yes, scifi is back at Kindle First!)
  • “The Marvelous Misadventures of Ingrid Winter” by authors JS Drangsholt, Tara F. Chace in Contemporary Fiction
  • “Only the Truth” by Adam Croft in Suspense
  • “Signature Wounds” by Kirk Russell in Thrillers
  • “In Farleigh Field: A Novel of World War II” by Rhys Bowen in Historical Fiction
  • “Duck and Hippo in the Rainstorm (Duck and Hippo Series Book 1)” by Jonathan London, Andrew Joyner in Children’s Picture Books

You have until February 28 in 2017 to make a choice, but don’t wait until 11:59pm of that day. Having said that, I tested it in January, I made my pick late on the 31st, after 9pm pacific time, and it was all good. Amazon is in the pacific time zone, so things on their website chance on the pacific time zone day-change – such as the Gold Box deals.

T-Mobile Tuesdays for 1/31/17 give you Spicy Chicken

Lunch or dinner is on T-Mobile with the Tuesday 1/31/17 rewards for customers participating in their Tuesday freebies. The headliner is a small entree of Firecracker Chicken at participating Panda Express locations. This is a spicy chicken with some veggies. You get it for free. You don’t have to buy anything else. This is above medium in terms of spiciness, so make the necessary preparations. One way to turn this into a meal is to throw it on top of a bowl of rice! This is one per line but apparently the code is generic, so some others in the deal forums who are not customers are taking advantage of it (by placing mobile orders since they don’t have the T-Mobile Tuesdays app to use it in-store).

The other two offers are a coupon ($20 off at Fanatics sports fan-gear), and another free movie rental at FandangoNOW. You get a $5 credit towards ONE movie rental. Any unused amount (eg if your movie rental is $2.99) is forfeit. You don’t carry it forward. This offer is one per FandangoNOW account per week, so the restriction is not on the number of T-Mobile lines, but the FN accounts.

New twist on T-Mobile Tuesday: you can send some offers to a friend

T-Mobile is launching a new twist with some of the “Tuesday” offers. Two of the offers in the Tuesday 1/24/17 group are not only good for you, but you can also send them to a friend. You still get yours, regardless of whether you send to a friend or not. The two offers that have this feature are the FandangoNOW movie rental (rent one movie up to $5), and a 25c discount per gallon on a Shell gas station fill-up (this is really a coupon, not a freebie).

The other offer that is running (and cannot be sent to a friend) is a $15 off discount on a Lyft ride. With Uber getting more customer and mindshare and almost becoming a verb, Lyft has to find other ways to get more people in the door (so to speak). One thing that works well for challengers to the #1 is letting people try your products or services for free or heavily discounted. Hence this 🙂

The gift cards mentioned are NOT freebies
When look at the website there, you’ll see something about gift cards. These are NOT freebies. The gift cards ar part of the prizes. To win prizes, you have to punch that magenta wall. You get one punch per line, not per customer. You have to be logged on to that particular line per punch. Most of the time you “win” the freebies but some people (presumably) win some of the prizes. So the following $5 and $10 gift cards are not freebies for all, but only prizes!

As you can see in the screenshot below, the freebies have that magenta gift next to their name. The gift cards are prizes, there is no magenta gift logo next to them:

Starbucks Rewards: Buy three specific food items, get 150 Bonus Stars

Back to Starbucks Rewards, another invited offer is circulating in emails, and you have to manually activate/join the offer if you had been invited to participate. This is a “pick three” offer, you buy three different items from three different product categories, and you receive 150 Bonus Stars on the purchase. You can only earn one trifecta bonus during this promotion which runs January 17-23 in 2017.

The three categories are:

  • one breakfast sandwich
  • one warm sandwich (excluding breakfast sandwiches – check Menu if you are not certain what qualifies)
  • one Protein Bistro Box

150 Bonus Stars are worth 1.25 rewards, so that’s not a bad promotion! I don’t know if reward redemptions for the above items also qualify towards the limit or you have to buy them with “fresh money” in order for them to qualify.

The rewards should be added to your account by the end of the month if you buy all the eligible items. The good news is that they have been getting better at loading rewards after qualifying purchases. In some recent promotions, the bonus stars appeared in the app within minutes of qualifying purchases.

Samsung Book Deals options for January 2017

If you have an eligible Samsung device, you can get one free e-book per month from a choice of four options, if you use the Kindle app downloaded from the official Samsung app store. This app is tuned to work with the S-Pen, so that’s a plus if you have a Note device!

Your benefit and how long it lasts depends on which Samsung device you purchased and when. I have no clue which devices qualifies for what, so that’s up to you to determine. IF you have an eligible device, the four e-books, under the “Book Deals” section of the Kindle app downloaded from the Samsung app store show a price of FREE/$0. If you see an actual price, it means you will pay for it. But fear not, even if so, you can always go to amazon.com/myk and reverse/cancel the purchase.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, these are the four choices for January 2017. You have until 1/31/17 to make a choice. Unlike Kindle First that offers brand new e-books, almost all the Samsung Book Deals options are already part of Kindle Unlimited, so they have a built-up review profile, which can help you device if none of the books shout “read me” immediately.

The choices are:

  • “First Activation” by the Wearmouth brothers (book #1 in a post-apocalyptic series)
  • “Katwalk” by Maria Murmano
  • “Opal Fire” by Barbra Annino in a Mystery series
  • “The Kentucky Bride” by Norah Hess in Steamy Romances

OPTIONALLY, once you buy the e-book of your choice, you can add audio narration (Audible audiobook) for typically an extra $2 more. In the strange world of e-book pricing, sometimes it is cheaper to buy the ebook + audiobook, than buy the audiobook directly!
