Buy $9 T-Mobile SIM card, Activate It and Get $25 Amazon Gift Card

IF (and that’s a big IF) you are planning to activate new T-Mobile service in the near future, Amazon has a “money maker deal” for you! You pay $9 for a T-Mobile SIM starter kit (with free shipping for Prime members) and upon activation of the SIM/service, you will receive a $25 Amazon gift card. That’s a $16 money maker assuming you have no problem spending a $25 Amazon gift card 🙂

This is a Nano SIM and the kit includes adapters for the other two larger sizes, Micro and Standard. Since you are getting the smallest SIM card, you don’t have to worry about it not fitting into your phone. Hopefully we will soon move to e-SIM technology and not have to deal with this nonsense 🙂

PS: make sure Amazon actual is the seller, and NOT marketplace sellers, otherwise you won’t get the $25 Amazon gift card! The link above points to Amazon’s own listing.

You may find a unique coupon code that gets you 25% off the current price of the brand new “Star Trek Beyond” movie. Vudu won’t be airing the movie, you have to own it on your own and play it on your own, and follow people’s commentary using the social media hashtag.

Nov 15-21: Free $10 Walgreens Gift Card with Prepaid Phone purchase

For the week of November 15-21 (in 2015), at Walgreens brick and mortar stores, you can receive a FREE $10 Walgreens plastic gift card if you purchase any prepaid phone from either T-Mobile or Net10 or Tracfone. Depending on their prices and/or sales options, this may be a pretty good deal. As usual, YMMV as inventory may vary from store to store and region to region…

Last Call: The T-Mobile 2-line $10GB/line $100 no-contract plan

T-Mobile will be launching their new smartphone plans on Sunday November 15 in 2015. Their highly advertised new family plan is 6GB per line. However, if you want more data and you are ready to move quickly, good until Saturday night (at least), you can get their 10GB/line plan, with a minimum of two lines per customer, for $100 for 2 lines. These offers are available at their brick and mortar stores or at their toll-free customer service. You won’t find this on their website.

I don’t know if the 2+ lines with 10GB/line plan will continue after Sunday, given the new plans in place (and the increase of the Unlimited single-line plan). Since there are no contracts, you can jump on this plan at the last minute and make changes later, depending on how things turn out.

PS: this plan is 2 lines with 10GB per line for $100. However, if you need more data, you can go to 20GB/line for +$10/mo per line.

Seller-refurbished Samsung Galaxy S5 (T-Mobile, Unlocked) for $210

If today’s Uncarrier X announcements got you excited about T-Mobile, but you don’t want to pay the big bucks for a new phone and you don’t want to sign up for those monthly plans, among the latest offers on eBay you can get the seller-refurbished Samsung Galaxy S5 (T-Mobile, but unlocked now) for $210 with free shipping by eBay seller “chubbiestech” (98.7%). This is available in either black or white, with a limit of 50 per customer. The gold color is sold-out.

The description over there states “phone in fair to good condition, Unit will have scuffs or scratches on body and screen. Comes packaged in after market box with compatible charger & battery”. If you are comfortable with the higher risk of seller-refurbished items, and you are not a perfectionist in terms of the cosmetic product condition, you may get a great deal out of this.

Since this is a T-Mobile unlocked phone, it should work great with T-Mobile. For other GSM carriers, check the bands to make sure it’s a good match. Of particular interest if you are a fan of microSD cards and removable batteries since Samsung yanked both of those features out of the Galaxy S6 🙁

No contract, you own the phone right away. You can always use it as a Wifi-only media device, or use it for development purposes or other experiments, or have it “eat” data from your mobile hotspot or other phones.

Certified Preowned Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for $240 with coupon (T-Mobile)

Note temptations! Without a contract. Certified pre-owned. Okay, let’s start from the beginning. Coupon code CPO60 (CPO for Certified Pre Owned) is a $60 off discount on the current price of the certified pre-owned Samsung Galaxy Note 3 at the T-Mobile website. This drops it from $300 to $240.

That’s yours to keep, no contract, no payments if you pay the full $240 upfront. If you are a new customer, their shopping cart will automatically add a $15 SIM Starter Kit to your shopping cart, and it won’t let you remove it. Not a very Uncarrier thing to do 🙂

This phone came out during the reign of Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean), and has a Snapdragon processor, with 3GB RAM, 32GB on-board plus microSD slot, the all-important S-Pen, and things like that.

Refurbished LG G2 D801 (T-Mobile locked, No Contract) for $130

If you are fond of former flagship phones, you can find many and more of those at the eBay Deals. Case in point, you can get the manufacturer refurbished LG G2 (D801, T-Mobile, 4G LTE) for just $130 with free shipping from eBay seller “Pangea Deals” (98.9%). One of the reason the price is low is because this is locked to T-Mobile, so you have to use it there for cellular. As always, you can use it as a Wifi-only device. No contract!

This phone has been out for a while, so there are plenty of reviews and tips and hacks available on the interwebs for you. As a refresher, this is a 4G LTE device, running on the Snapdragon 800, with 2GB RAM, a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 Gorilla Glass 3 display, 32GB on-board storage, microUSB, OTG, etc. As you can see, this is not a bad spec sheet.

Good Candidate for the T-Mobile 10GB/month Family Plans
Particularly of interest if you are planning to sign up for T-Mobile’s 10GB/line family plan that requires a minimum of two lines, and it is a data-hungry user’s dream. Each line gets 10GB of its own per month, with a 12-month Data Stash (their name for rollover).

Two lines are $100 total, so you get 20GB per month, with rollover. Optionally, for +$10/month, you can add an extra 10GB per line, so $130 gets you 30GB/month, $140 gets you 40GB/month. Nom nom indeed. Plus music streaming and Speedtest does NOT count against this limit. On top of that, you can use up to 10GB per line for hotspot/tethering (this of course comes out of your total 10GB line bucket).

LG G3 (D851, 32GB, T-Mobile Unlocked GSM, No Contract) for $250

If you like the sweet value of former flagships, and also prefer no-contract GSM unlocked smartphones, there’s another temptation among the latest eBay Deals, you can get the new condition LG G3 (32GB, D851), T-Mobile Unlocked GSM smartphone, no contract, for $250 with free shipping. Limit five per customer. The seller of record is MobilePros1 (97.7%). Over 1900 units got moved so far from this listing.

This was opened for unlocking purposes but it is otherwise new. As a refresher, it has a 5.5-inch screen, 3GB RAM, 32GB on-board, comes with Kit Kat and can be upgraded to Lollipop, and such. As a former high profile release, there’s plenty of information, reviews and hacks posted about it.

Nokia Lumia 530 (T-Mobile) for $20 [WP]

If you are Windows Phone curious or you are looking for a no-contract prepaid phone on the T-Mobile network, the Nokia Lumia 530 phone, locked to T-Mobile but without a contract requirement, is currently on clearance, in new condition for $20 at the Best Buy website. Free shipping with a $35+ order. One way to reach that is to get two of these.

They have basic specs, but hey, it’s just $20. You get a Snapdragon 200 processor, microSD slot that can take up to 128GB (fill it up with music and audiobooks and podcasts!), and runs Windows Phone 8.1.

Certified PreOwned Samsung Galaxy S5 for $350 with 12 months warranty [no contract; choice of AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile]

It’s a good year to be buying smartphones. So many options out there pushing prices down. Case in point, if you like the Samsung Galaxy S, and value the microSD and removable battery a lot, you can get the Galaxy S5 in certified pre-owned condition for $350 at amazon.com in your choice of AT&T or Verizon or T-Mobile. No contract – you own these the moment the payment clears!

The description says it comes with all original accessories and it is “like new”. There is also notes that it comes with a 12 month warranty! The only downside is that they are probably locked to their respective carriers, which partially leads to the lower prices you see. But if you are planning to use these as Wifi-only, not an issue.

T-Mobile 3-in-1 Prepaid Plan SIM for 99c with coupon

If you are interested in a T-Mobile prepaid plan, or you may become interested later, or you want to have a couple of extra/backup SIM cards for experiments or used phones, for a limited time only, the T-Mobile website is offering the Prepaid T-Mobile SIM 3-in-1 kit for just 99c after you enter coupon code SIM99 over there. I don’t know when the coupon expires…

tmobile_99c_prepaid_3in1_sim_starter_kit

The nice thing with a 3-in-1 kit is that you don’t have to worry about having the right size SIM card or grabbing razors or other things trying to cut it down on your own based on some random YouTube video.

PS: It comes with standard free shipping! (I just placed an order).

Refurbished 16GB Sony Xperia Z C6606 (T-Mobile) for $105

If you are Sony-curious and are looking for a phone to use on the T-Mobile network or as a Wifi-only device, the 16GB Sony Xperia Z C6606 is available in seller refurbished condition, locked to T-Mobile cell-wise, for $105 with free shipping, with a limit of five per customer, by eBay seller “Chubbiestech” (98.8%). Nearly 1000 of them sold so far from this listing. No contract!

It comes with a charger but no other accessories. For cell use, you have to provide your own SIM card.

$0.99 T-Mobile SIM cards with coupon (ends 4/23/15)

Good until the end of day 4/23/15, you can get T-Mobile SIM cards for just 99 cents each when you use coupon code SIM99 at the T-Mobile website. No contracts! You can keep them around in case of emergency number porting. Do note however that SIM cards have expiration dates.

LG 450 Black (T-Mobile) for $22.50 [Pay As You Go]

For the shopping week of March 15-21 in 2014, at Walgreens brick and mortar stores (their website does not offer it), you can get the prepaid no-contract LG 450 Black Flip Phone for $22.50. This is because of a 25% off sale on select prepaid pay as you go phones. The phone includes a SIM but no airtime. This is no contract, no commitment, you just pay for it at checkout. It typically goes for $30. No coupon is needed. There should be a discount sign in the store. Availability may vary by store and region, and obviously I have no way to checking every store in the country.

This is a fairly simple phone, with a camera and front status display, you can see details and customer reviews at amazon.com.

The lowest price Pay As You Go plan at the Uncarrier is $3 per month, which includes 30 minutes of talk. They have $10 refill airtime cards that last 90 days, so technically, you pay $10 for 3 months. Every month, it will deduct a $3 minimum from your balance.

Note that this phone is locked to T-Mobile.
