16oz Whole Foods 365 Almond Butter for $6

Sale time at Whole Foods of all places. Good until Tuesday August 23 in 2016, you can get 1 lb (16oz) of their 365 Almond Butter for just $6. This is either Creamy or Crunchy, unsalted, unsweetened! That’s a pretty good price, it handily “defeats” Trader Joe’s permanent price of $8, which is the regular price at Whole Foods as well.

wholefoods_16oz_almondbutter

It’s almost cheaper than a 1 lb of almonds if you are not buying bulk 🙂 The one I picked up has a January 2017 best buy date, so it’s not like they are leftovers. You can buy as many as you like, there’s no limit. No coupon needed, it’s a sale!

100pk Stash Lemon Ginger Herbal Tea under $9 with coupon

Last week we spotted a good deal on the Stash Licorice 100pk, but that’s not all! Also running with a 20% off clip-on coupon at Amazon is the 100pk of Stash Lemon Ginger Herbal Tea. The price before you add the clip-on coupon is $10.95. After you add the 20% off coupon, it drops to $8.76. This is the one-time purchase.

If you are willing to do a “Subscribe and Save” (SaS), you can save an extra 5% or 15% off, depending on how many SaS items you have going on. Personally I don’t want to have to worry about adjusting or cancelling SaS orders, so I just do the one-time purchase unless the discounts are significant enough.

The shipping terms are as usual, free with Prime or with a $49+ order or with SaS. Keep in mind SaS is not Prime eligible, so if you hate slow shipping, keep that in mind.

PS: this is the Subscribe and Save store that shows all the eligible items and promotions. There are close to 100,000 eligible items (!!!).

PS2: if you are not familiar with how all these work, here’s a screenshot below of the SaS listing, with arrows pointing to all the locations on the website you have to pay attention to. The Subscribe and Save overlay is when you click on the “Details” link over there…

Starbucks Rewards Double Stars coming this week

If you are a member of the Starbucks Rewards programs, pay attention to their emails and messages/notifications in their app. The monthly Double Stars day is coming this week. I don’t know if every customer gets the same day, or if they spread them around the week to balance the extra sales.

sbux_doublestars_august2016

Double stars means you get 4 Stars per $1 spent, instead of the usual 2 Stars per $1. What it means is that you get a free Reward for every $31.25 you spent. The stars are actually fractional, so you don’t lose any because of rounding numbers.

So strategically, you wait to make your big purchases on Double Stars Day. A pound of coffee, a new coffee mug, a box of tea, perhaps an $8 Powerlunch, and things like that.

100pk Stash Licorice Spice Tea for under $9 w/coupon

It’s tea time! If you like licorice flavored tea and Oregon’s Stash brand, for a limited time, Amazon has a 20% off clip-on on the 100-pack of the Licorice Spice bringing it down to under $9 for a one-time purchase, and slightly less if you do a Subscribe and Save. This is Prime-eligible, so even if you buy this item and nothing else, you still get free 2-day shipping (assuming you are a member).

This is not just licorice, there’s a number of other items included, check picture #3 in the gallery over there to see them all. There are many flavors on the same review page, so if you want to read reviews for this flavor one, here’s the link that has all 195 of them for this model (out of over 4000 total).

[DEAD] RxBars on sale for $1.89 at Whole Foods

UPDATE October 2017: the Whole Foods sale is long over, but there is a new customer offer at the RX Bar website that gets you 14 bars for $20 with free shipping.

ORIGINAL POST
Jump aboard the hype train that is RxBar nutrition bars! The Rx is not medicinal, and they don’t taste medicinal, they taste like dates 🙂 They are on sale for $1.89 per bar until 8/23/16 at Whole Foods brick and mortar stores. Here’s photographic evidence, my receipt 🙂

rxbar_sale_at_wholefoods

The Whole Foods I went to have five different flavors, including the Chocolate, Coffee, Pumpkin Spice (it’s not a latte!), and Peanut Butter. This price beats Trader Joe which has limited flavors for $2 each, and it also beats the 12-pack price at Amazon. The only way you can get a good deal at Amazon is if you find them in-stock and on-sale at Prime Pantry.

PS: if you are planning a Pantry purchase, make sure you check the Pick 5 August Offer for free shipping.

Lucky’s Rewards: FREE 4pk of BFree Rolls (no wheat, no gluten)

If you love bread rolls but want to avoid wheat and gluten, AND if you are a Lucky’s Rewards member, good until Tuesday 8/9/16 closing time, you can get a free packages of BFree Rolls (four of them). As usual, you have to add the offer to your Lucky’s Rewards account by clicking on the big red button in the email mentioning the offer.

lucky_free_bfree_rolls

No purchase is necessary to get the freebie, although Miss Manners would suggest buying at least something to balance the freebie 🙂 If you are using self-checkout, an employee is needed to punch in numbers at the self-checkout for the freebie.

Prime Pantry Free Shipping with Coupon and Purchase of Five Eligible items

A new month brings multiple “gifts” for Prime members. One is the free pre-release e-book. Another is a new coupon code for free Prime Pantry shipping. This month (August 2016) coupon code PANTRYAUG gets you free shipping if you buy five items from this long list of eligible products. You don’t have to buy five different items, you can also buy five units of a single item, or any combination. You will see the free shipping appear in your shopping cart once you have enough eligible items there.

If you find enough items above to get free shipping, here are a few PrimePantry items that are a good deal as of the time of writing (the ones below don’t qualify for the five free shipping requirement)

Teavana Gravity Tea Brewers On Sale: 16oz for $14, 32oz for $21 [select colors]

It’s tea time again! If you like to brew loose leaf tea (or even tea bags) in those gravity brewers, the official Teavana website sale has some of the colors of both their 16oz and 32oz models on sale. The 16oz models (green, pink) go for $14 each, while the 32oz model (dark blue) goes for $21.

In parallel they have a sale on some of their loose leaf tea, the 2oz of the Caramel Chai Rooibos goes for $2.50, while the Chocolate Chai Black Tea goes for $3.25, and Oprah’s signature Chai Tea goes for $3.75 per 2oz. Fans of “real tea”, maybe interested in the 2oz of Yunnan Golden Pu-Erh going for $4. This averages 3.7 out of 5 based on 41 customer reviews which can be hard to decode since some of them are people who tried puerh for the first time, while others are puerh diehards that are too demanding 🙂

You can easily find the above by sorting the Sale page by Lower Price.

Having said all that, shipping is free with orders of $50+, so if you are not planning a big purchase, you have to trade off the shipping fees versus buying elsewhere (eg the gravity brewers get free Prime shipping at Amazon at their regular prices).

PS: if you are interested in iron teapots (for brewing tea, not heating water), Teavana has a big markup on them, you may want to research some of the more affordable models available at Cost Plus World Market (no free shipping either but may have store pickup).

$25 off first AmazonFresh order with coupon

If you have never placed an AmazonFresh order before, but you are willing to start a free trial, they have a coupon promotion to entice you, coupon 25FRESHOFFER gets you $25 off the total of your first order. This only includes products from AmazonFresh, not from third-party sellers or gift cards. This must be purchased in one order and limit of one coupon per customer. The promotion is good until 9/30/16.

More details on the offer at the Promotional page.

TL;DR: AmazonFresh is a more expensive version of Prime. It includes the standard Prime along with the grocery door delivery service. This should not be confused with PrimePantry which is part of the regular Prime membership but has a $6 flat delivery fee. And then there’s Subscribe And Save, which is not part of Prime, and everyone can use. And the oldest of all, buying groceries at Amazon like any other item. Deconfused or did I make it worse? 🙂

July 28 – August 7: Bonus Stars on packaged coffee and VIA Refreshers

Things got quiet with the special offers during the transition from spring to summer at the Starbucks Rewards, but they are back now with a new promotion, emailed to Rewards members. Note that I have no way of knowing what percentage of participants are receiving this email offer.

This is an automatic offer, you don’t have to opt-in or use coupon codes. It just happens if you are invited to participate and purchase the qualifying items during the promotional period as shown below:

sbux_packaged_rewards2

This offer, running July 28 to August 7 in 2016 focuses on prepackaged coffee and refreshers. The more you buy, the more bonus stars you get. If you buy three of them, you earn 150 Bonus Stars, which are the point-equivalent of 1.2 actual rewards, not bad, considering a reward can be redeem for items costing $6+. If you buy two of them, you get 75 points, not bad. If you only buy one, you just get a miserable 25 points 🙂

This offer can only be used once per account, it won’t roll around if you buy more than four during the promotional period. The bonus stars should appear in your account by 8/17/16 if all is well.

Per the email, their definition of packaged coffee is: “Whole Bean, Ground, Starbucks VIA Instant Beverage, K–Cup packs and Verismo pods”.

Dog Food Sample Box with $10 credit (Prime only!)

Hooray dog lovers or if you want to donate dog food to a local shelter or volunteers who take care or foster dogs! If you are an Amazon Prime member, Amazon has now launched a Dog Food Sample Box.

The deal is the same as before. You pay $10 for the sample box. It arrives with a minimum of seven different foods and treats. One week after the order ships, Amazon will send you an email that a $10 credit has been added to your Amazon account. After that happens, you can use the $10 credit to purchase any combination of the 250+ eligible items. You can split the $10 credit among multiple items and multiple orders, or it can go towards a more expensive item. It happens automatically, it’s the first thing that gets deducted from the total before your gift cards and credit cards are billed.

dogfood_sample_box

Even though these are for Prime members, they only ship with one speed, standard shipping. You cannot change this to 2-day Prime shipping and you cannot change it to slower shipping to get shipping credits. In practice, how fast it gets to you depends on how close you are to the warehouses that have them in stock 🙂

As usual, there is no stated expiration date on the offer, this is good until they run out of them. If you haven’t done this before, there are a few other Sample Boxes running. You can also check our write-ups on the previous offers.

Still good: FREE 57oz of Red Diamond Tea for Luckys Rewards

If you are a Lucky (the grocery store chain) Rewards member, their free bottled tea promotion has been extended until Tuesday 7/29/16. If it’s not already in your Luckys Rewards account, you have to first manually add it by clicking on the red button in the email informing of this promotion. Partial screenshot below:

luckys_diamondtea

This is a 57oz container you can find in the refrigerator or their regular bottled tea area. There are three different options, so pay attention when picking it up. There is an Unsweeted option that has no sweetener of any kind. There’s the sweetened one with sugar, and the Sugar-Free one whose name is slightly misleading, it has artificial sweeteners. So make sure you read the label if you have a strong preference on which one you like to drink or avoid.

PS: speaking of Lucky’s, for a limited time, you get a free bottle of Coconut Water (I forgot which brand), when you purchase one of their personal size watermelon. There’s a sign in the store next to the watermelons with the promotions and the coconut water. If you don’t spot it immediately, circle the watermelon area, it may be hiding in a blind spot 🙂

Prime Day $10 Promo Code good for Prime Pantry as well

Good news bargain hunters! If you participated in the Prime Day Amazon Gift Card promotion (you got a $10 promotional credit if you purchased a $50+ Amazon Gift Card), you can use that promotional credit at PrimePantry as well, not just for regular Amazon.com purchases. Here’s the evidence in my shopping cart (screenshot below):

primepantry_eligible_for_primeday_promocode

Not only that, but it is also stackable with the July free shipping coupon PANTRYJUL, as long as you buy five items from the Free Shipping List. You don’t have to buy five different items, you can buy five of the same item, or any combination. As long as the item is on the list.

PS: I don’t have any active PrimePantry slow-shipping credits, so I don’t know if that’s stackable as well.
