YMMV 25 Bonus Stars with Mobile Orders (SBUX Rewards)

This is a YMMV offer, as with many of the bonus stars offers, as I have no way of knowing what percentage of the Starbucks Rewards members receive these via email. For one thing, people would have to be opted-in to promotional emails from Starbucks for these offers to arrive. This is a simple offer, they updated their app with a new more versatile mobile ordering system, and they want to “encourage” people to try it again, so if you received this offer…

sbux_mobile_order_bonus

… AND you manually activate it clicking on the link in your email or app, you will receive 25 bonus stars when you place a mobile order between November 15-21 in 2016. You only get one bonus for this promotion regardless of how many orders you place. You can also stack this with the after 2PM promotion.

PS: you can place a mobile order while you are in the store, or even while you are in line (eg the line is way too long, so instead of wasting time in line, you sit on a chair, place a mobile order and wait for it to get called).

Starbucks Rewards Dash Offer: Bonus Stars for purchases after 2pm local time

Starbucks launched a new Bonus Stars promotion. Check your emails or the latest version of the Starbucks app, as some of the Bonus Stars offers (but not all of them) have began showing up in the app. This offer requires manual opt-in, which boils down to clicking the “Join the Dash” button in the email or the appropriate button in the app.

This offer is to encourage afternoon visits. You only qualify for the bonus for purchases made after 2pm local time between November 15-21 in 2016. If you make three purchases, you will receive 50 Bonus Stars. Or if you make five or more purchases, you will receive 100 Bonus Stars. You can only get one bonus for this offer. The bonus stars will be added to your account by 11/28/16.

The email does not clarify what they mean by “purchases”. I am assuming they mean separate transactions, not visits, not individual items counted. If so, strategically, you can split your order if you are going to be “for here” ~ if you are going to be too close to call. But if you are there daily after 2pm, you can get to the bonus without effort, since the promotional period is seven days.

Again, I must stress, you must manually opt-in/activate this offer, and it only counts after 2pm local time! Partial screenshot of the email offer below:

Spend $25+ on Food Items at Chili’s, Get 500 Plenti Points

If you like Chili’s restaurants and you are part of the Plenti rewards program, check your account for a new promotion that gets you 500 Plenti points ($5 future buying power) when you spend $25+ on eligible purchases (food items) at Chili’s restaurants. This is a manual offer, you have to activate it over there in your account by clicking on the green “Activate Offer” button. A screenshot of that is shown below:

chilis_macys

Once activated, the offer continues until 12/5/16. Check the full terms over there, alcoholic beverages are not eligible for this promotion, neither are taxes or tips. You have to get to $25+ with food items only. You can use it multiple times during the promotional period but once per transaction.

NOTE: You have to show them your Plenti card or give them your phone number in order to get the 500 Plenti points!

November 10-14: B1G1 Holiday Drinks at SBUX (2-5pm, Extra Hour for Rewards members)

It may not even be mid-November, but the holiday drinks are rolling out at Starbucks, and to encourage us all to give them a try, the introductory “Buy 1 Get 1” promotion is back! It runs from 2pm to 5pm local time, and it is good for everyone, you don’t need to be a Rewards member. But if you are a Rewards member, you get an extra hour, you can order them until 6pm local time. The cash register can tell this when you pay with your Starbucks app. Which may be handy if your local stores get too busy during the 2-5pm mad rush to double the sugar at half the price πŸ™‚

sbux_holiday_drinks_b1g1

If you are not sure which drinks qualify as holiday drinks, check their website or menu online or in the app (the Ordering section), or ask one of their employees. Their cash register is the ultimate decider on what qualifies since that’s the one that will give you the discount πŸ™‚

AndroidPAY: Free Panera “You Pick Two” with $10+ order

Check your emails or Android PAY offers! Google is running a new co-promotion with Panera. If you place a $10+ at Panera using AndroidPAY, Panera will add a FREE “You Pick Two” to your Panera account. You can take advantage of this offer once per week, it’s not once per account, so it’s a big plus for regular Paneraheads. The offer ends 11/24/16.

panera_androidpay

The “You Pick Two” is a legit reward, you get two half-portions of any sandwich, salad or soup. It’s a solid lunch!

I haven’t done this offer, so all I can tell you is what’s in the emails. I will update this if I do, but I’m trying to cut back on bready sandwiches these days.

New PrimePantry Free Shipping Promotion (buy 5+ of select items)

November is here, and if you like to shop at Prime Pantry but don’t like paying that annoying $6 shipping fee, there is a new round of select items that trigger free shipping for your order. You have to buy at least five of them, but they don’t have to buy five different items. It can be any combination, for example, you can buy five of the same item. They have a variety of categories, making it easier to find something if you are a regular Pantry-shopper, including breakfast items (cereals, protein bars, etc), along with household items (eg toilet paper), health and beauty items, beverages, snacks, and such.

PS: Prime Pantry is for Prime members only, but you still have to pay a $6 flat fee per order. This Pantry thing is different from AmazonFresh which has a monthly fee. So much confusion when it comes to buying food-related products at Amazon, because there’s also PrimeNOW and Subscribe-and-Save, in addition to a good old Amazon purchase πŸ™‚

Free Shipping at Teavana with coupon

If you want to buy something from the Teavana website but don’t want to make a big enough purchase to qualify for free shipping, we have good news for you, good until 11/6/16, coupon code OHYEAH gets you free shipping without a minimum purchase amount required. In addition to buying any of your favorites, you can also check their Sales page to see what else they may have. You can sort that page by price, and when you do, items start at around $2.50!

YMMV Opt-In Starbucks Rewards: 30 Bonus Stars on Nitro Cold Brew

Just in time for the winter, Starbucks Rewards has launched a new Bonus Stars promotion. As usual, these offers are YMMV, I have no clue how many people get offered each promotion. Check your emails or the latest Starbucks app offers to see if you qualify. If you do, you must opt-in to this offer by clicking the “Activate” button in your emails or the relevant button in the app.

sbux_rewards_nitro_coldbrew

Once you do, between November 3-9 in 2016, you get 30 Bonus Stars every time you buy Nitro Cold Brew. More specifically, the “NariΓ±o 70”. Cold brew is more expensive than regular coffee since it takes longer to brew, thus the “liquid encouragement” of the bonus stars. The bonus stars will appear in your account within 24 hours.

ALSO: A Deal to Help Veteran’s Groups
Speaking of Starbucks, if you want to help a Veteran’s non-profit, in their B&M stores, they have new Veterans themed gift cards. For every card that customers buy and activate (eg load money on it and use it), Starbucks will donate $5 to a Veteran’s non-profit. So instead of reloading your existing card, buy a new card and load it up. Then just add it to your Starbucks account/app, so you can continue earning rewards. You can also transfer its balance to your existing default card, so you don’t have to change your gift card routine/rotation.

FREE Powerbar for Lucky’s Rewards members

Lucky’s doesn’t get enough credit for its rewards program, one of the few that frequently offers its participating no-strings attached freebies. Which brings us to this week, good until Tuesday 11/8/16, if you are a Lucky’s Rewards member, and if you add the offer to your account (the big ole red button in their emails), you can get a FREE Powerbar (nutrition bar). You just have to use your Lucky Rewards number at checkout. This works at the self-checkout as well as the standard cashier-operated register.

Here’s a screenshot from that email. Check your inbox to find yours (if you are a member):

Free Reward with purchase of three select items (November 1-7; Must Opt-In; YMMV)

Starbucks Rewards is sending a new promotion by email to members. As usual with this type of offers, this is YMMV, since I have no clue how many members are getting the offers. This is an opt-in offer, you must first click the “Join Now” button in the email announcing the offer. If you don’t click on the email, you won’t get the bonus rewards. Once you click that, you get a page with a confirmation that the promotion is live in your account.

sbux_try_3_get_1_free_reward

This is actually a pretty good promotion. You have to buy three items, one item from three different product categories, between November 1-7. If you do so, you receive 125 Bonus Stars (in addition to the regular stars) by November 14. 125 Bonus Stars are the equivalent of one Reward, which you can redeem for things that go up to $7 (eg the boxed veggie salad or the $6.50 bistro boxes).

You have to buy one item from each product category below:

  • Any Breakfast Sandwich – check their menu in the app or online if you are not sure what qualifies as a breakfast sandwich versus a lunch sandwich
  • Any Latte (including the hyped PSL)
  • Any Frappuccino Blended Beverage

This can only be used once per Rewards member during this promotional period.

Deal Pattern: 12pk of RxBars for $20.80 on Mondays

UPDATE #2: if you are planning a Prime Pantry order, as of 10/31/16 PM, the 12pk of Chocolate Sea Salt goes for $20.75. You can buy as many as you can fit into the Prime Pantry box. Each 12pk is 3.6% volume. NOTE that availability of these depends on zipcode because it’s PrimePantry, not the regular Amazon that can ship things all over the place from any warehouse anywhere. The ones mentioned below are for the regular Amazon. PrimePantry is Prime-members only…

UPDATE 10/31/16 AM: Sure enough, one more validation point for “The RxBar 538 Model”, good until 3pm ET today is the 12pk RxBAR Pumpkin Spice on a lightning deal for $20.80. Of course it is the Pumpkin Spice, Harvest and Halloween and all πŸ™‚ [or pure coincidence]

ORIGINAL POST
Please note this is a recurring pattern but there’s no guarantee it will happen every week. By monitoring the lightning deals and looking at my order history, I discovered that there is a pattern on the 12-pack of the RxBar protein-bars. On some Mondays, different flavors are offered as a 4-hour lightning deal for the specific price of $20.80, making them under $2 per bar, which defeats Trader Joe’s standard price and the Whole Foods sale price (they have a 2 for $4). The $20.80 price makes it $1.73 per par. If you have any leftover credit from the Sample Boxes, it will also apply automatically. I had a $1 leftover that I hadn’t previously used that got auto-applied to my order last month.

So what evidence do I have of the pattern? Three pieces of hard evidence and more “memory evidence”. Last Monday, starting at 11am Eastern, there was a lightning deal on the Blueberry 12-pack for $20.80. I took a screenshot (the time below is Pacific):

rxbar_lightning_deal_pattern

Evidence #2 and #3 surfaced was when I went digging into my order history. I had placed ordered on these on October 17 and also in June 2016, and both were $20.80 lightning deals. I don’t know what the starting prices were for these, the order page only shows the date, not the exact order time.

HOW to LOOK for IT?

There are two ways to look for it. You can go to the product page for the 12-packs and check for a sale on Monday AM. I don’t have enough data to be able to guess which flavor would be offered. They are all on the same listing, ten official options (nine flavors, and one assorted).

The other way to check is the Grocery Lightning Deals. If you are checking too early, you can try filtering by “Upcoming” to cut down on the volume of the listings.

Again, having said all that, keep in mind this is ONLY a PATTERN, there is no guarantee this will happen every week, or next week or ever again. I will pay attention to them though (since I like them and buy them), and will update this post when I “recalibrate my model”. Yes, I am the Nate Silver of RXbar Lightning Deals πŸ™‚

Sunday October 30 is Double Stars for Starbucks Rewards members

As we mentioned earlier in the month, the last three Sundays in October 2016 have Bonus Star promotions for participants in the Starbucks Rewards. Today, via email, Starbucks revealed the bonus for Sunday October 30, 2016, and it’s the same as last week, double the usual amount of stars. So you get 4 Stars per $1 spent, instead of the usual 2 Stars. This is a good opportunity to buy things like coffee beans, tea boxes, cups, mugs, and anything else that has a longer shelf like than a latte πŸ™‚

Here’s a screenshot from the email announcing this:

sbux_oct30_double_rewards

Just like the previous Sundays, this is an automatic offer, you don’t have to manually opt-in for it. You know you are eligible if you receive an email with the promotion, or an app notification, or if you see double stars when you make your first Sunday purchase.

Plenti Dining: Earn 100 Bonus Points on $50+ Dining (YMMV)

If you are part of the Plenti rewards program, check your emails. They also have a Dining Rewards program [see introduction], which is similar to other credit-card based rewards programs, and earns you 3% points on your purchase. The email has a new limited time promotion that gets you 100 bonus Plenti points with a dining purchase of $50+ paid with your credit card linked to your Plenti Dining account. Offer ends by 11/7/16.

plenti_dining_50plus

NOTE that Plenti Dining is a separate tab in the Plenti account and you have to connect at least one credit card to it. The credit card transaction is how they can figure out that you made an eligible purchase and give you your Plenti points.

Amazon Restaurants: $10 off $20+ First Order [limited availability]

If you live at a zipcode that is serviced by the new Amazon Restaurants Service and IF you are a Prime member, you can take $10 off your first restaurant order of $20+. There is no coupon code to enter, the promotion goes through automatically when available.

10% off Peets Bulk Teas with coupon

Peet’s Coffee is having a new limited time coupon, code TENTEATOBER gets you 10% off all the Bulk Teas sold at the Peets.com website. Bulk teas are the ones sold in large quantities (eg 1/2 or 1 lbs) in bags. This coupon does not work on the tea tins or the tea pouches. Offer ends 10/30/16. Here’s a screenshot of the relevant part of the promotion from their emails:
