Refurbished Galaxy Note II (Verizon) for $130 {no contract}

If you love the idea of the Galaxy Note and S-Pens but don’t want to pay a lot or get tied up in a contract, and you are a higher risk shopper (eg comfortable with seller refurbished items), among the latest offers on eBay is the seller refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 2, model SCH-I605, with Verizon cellular hardware, for $130 with free shipping, in the black color scheme, with a limit of five per customer. Nearly 500 units sold so far from this listing. The seller is “GuaranteeCellular” (98.7%). The listing says clean ESN. They come with a 14 day money back guarantee but no additional warranty. No contract!

Lucky promotion: $10 off future purchase with $50+ in Gift Cards (Xbox, iTunes, GPlay)

This is a YMMV promotion, but if you use the self-checkout machine at Lucky’s stores, it may spit out a promotional offer after you complete the transaction. The offer says that if you purchase $50 or more in any combination of iTunes or Google Play or xBox gift cards, their checkout register will spit out a coupon for $10 off your next purchase. You will pay full price for the gift cards. The discount will be on the next purchase after that. Limit two per customer. I haven’t done this promotion (yet at least), so I can’t tell you exactly how it works. If you are a regular Lucky’s shopper, this is effectively a 20% off on the gift cards, assuming you were going to spend that future money on future purchases anyway (eg you regularly buy groceries there).

July 12-18: earn 250 Plenti points with $25+ Google Play gift card

iTunes cards have been easy to get at a discount for many years, but only recently Google finally decided to play the discounting game for their Google Play cards. If you have a Plenti rewards account (or sign up for one), during the week of July 12-18 in 2015, at Rite Aid brick and mortar stores, you can earn 250 Plenti points (= $2.50 in rewards money) when you buy a $25 (or higher) Google Play gift card. This is effectively a 10% off discount, assuming you can spend the 250 Plenti points later on. Limit two offers per card during this promotional period.

34oz Bodum Assam French Tea Press for $25

If you are a fan of the Bodum brand and brewing tea, there’s a new temptation sale for you. The 34oz Bodum Assam French Tea Press is now on sale for just $25 at the Kohls website in four different colors. Kohls charges shipping unless you buy more items to reach the free shipping threshold. However, if you are an Amazon Prime member or plan to place just a $35+ order over there, they appear to have price-matched Kohls for around $25, and you can buy as many as you like at this price. It appears however that only the black handle is on sale at Amazon (which in my opinion looks nicer than the pastely colors).

NOTE: this is a French Press tea pot. It has a mechanism that presses the tea leaves down, not unlike coffee presses. It should not be confused with a standard teapot and infuser combination, although they obviously do the same thing… *spoiler alert* … they brew tea 🙂

$2 Flat Shipping with $50+ order Prime Pantry order

For a limited time only (they don’t specify the expiration date), coupon code BUYPANTRY gets you $2 flat shipping on orders of $50 of more at Amazon’s Prime Pantry. This is sort of like their Costco equivalent, not to be confused with AmazonFresh that sells fresh produce and fresh groceries. However, there is a big overlap in products that can be ordered between the two programs. It adds to the complexity but also offers the more bargain-oriented shoppers two different ways to get discounts 🙂 Prime Pantry only requires a Prime membership, not a Prime Fresh membership.

These are the Terms and Conditions of this limited time promotion.

If you are considering an order there, here are some potentially good deals to add to your order, especially if you are close to $50 but need a little boost to get to $2 shipping:

July 8-14: Blueberry Price Wars at S&F and Lucky

Blueberries are in season, so if you love them or like to freeze them or jam them or use them in many other different ways, the grocery store shopping week of July 8-14 in 2015 has a Smart and Final vs Lucky’s price war! At Smart and Final, you can get a 18oz clamshell for $2, while at Lucky’s you can get a 2lb clamshell for $4. So S&F wins just barely, because 18oz is 1 lb and 2oz. So for $4, you get an extra 4oz 🙂 Regardless, either place is a great deal. These are fresh blueberries in the fresh produce sections, NOT the freezers!

Existing Customers: Get All Studiopress Themes for $225 [last chance]

August 20, 2015 UPDATE
This is the last chance to get this for $225 as an existing customer. In September, the regular price of the Pro Plus pack will increase from $400 to $500, and in 2016, Studiopress will switch to a recurring subscription plan. But if you buy these now (before 8/26/15 at 5pm), you can lock in the 37 Studiopress themes and 31 bonus themes with lifetime updates and support.

Whether you need them all or not, it is up to you to decide. Considering the prices, if you plan to buy a couple more, you might as well get the whole lot. If you are happy with what you have, and don’t foresee the need to buy additional Genesis themes, then you can spend the $225 elsewhere.

June 2015 offer
For WordPress bloggers and developers, if you have an existing Studiopress account, they have a limited time flash sale that lets you buy all their in-house StudioPress wordpress themes (currently 38 and more coming) for a one-time fee of $225 with lifetime updates and support. The name of this bundle is “StudioPress Pro Plus All-Theme Pack”. It typically goes for $300. If you are not an existing Studiopress member, the price is $300. The offer ends 7/15/15. No coupon needed.

PS: the email of the flash sale also mentions “31 bonus themes” but I have no idea what that means since they don’t elaborate on the email and there’s no mention of it on their website.

July 10-19: earn bonus stars with packaged Starbucks coffee

This new Starbucks Rewards promotion focuses on purchasing packaged coffee products at either their local stores or participating grocery stores or the Starbucks website. You have to redeem the star codes from the specially marked eligible packaged coffee products online between July 10-19 in 2015. Three packages earn you 15 bonus stars. Two of them get you 8 bonus stars and one package gets you just 3 bonus stars. As you can see, the more you buy the more rewards you earn. You can only use this offer once during this promotional period. I haven’t personally done this type of a promotion before, so I can’t tell you what to expect.

Surprise Bonus Ink Reward from Staples: 50% of your June amount

Surprise, surprise! If you are a Staples Rewards member they have added a surprise limited time reward bonus to your account. This is the first time I’ve seen this type of an offer. You get an extra reward that you can only use towards the purchase ink and toner at Staples stores or their website or online. The amount is 50% of the reward amount your received in June 2015. This is separate from your regular June 2015 rewards. It expires quickly however, July 13!

Tea Clearance at Peet’s Coffee

Both at the Peet’s Coffee website and their brick and mortar stores, you may find a clearance on their house brand tea products, both loose leaf and tea bags. This is because Peet’s purchased Mighty Leaf and they are going to shift all tea products under the Mighty Leaf brand. The sale currently is 25% off the regular Peet’s prices which is a pretty good deal since these rarely went on sale. Plus they come in some very nice tins that have a pretty good seal. You can also check their website for potential deals.

Unlocked 32GB Fire Phone (GSM, former AT&T) for $140

If you are interested in getting the Amazon Fire Phone unlocked, and don’t want to wait for another sale by Amazon (which includes one year of Prime), you can instead get it for $140 with free shipping by QualityCellz on eBay (99.2%) with a limit of five per customer. This was a former AT&T phone, opened for unlocking per the description. There is no mention of a free 1-year Prime, so assume you are not getting that. No contract – you own the phone, you can do whatever you want with it – well, within the context of common sense that is 🙂

Scifi sale: Defiance S3 HD and Defying Gravity DVD

If you are a fan of scifi TV, we have two nice deals for you, one for an in-progress TV season and one for a cancelled TV show. We start with the current TV season, the Season Pass in HD for Season 3 of Syfy’s Defiance is currently on sale for $15 at Amazon Instant Video. This typically goes for twice as much in HD. This is a limited time offer.

Meanwhile Season 1 of the cancelled TV Series “Defying Gravity” is on sale for $7 on DVD at Amazon.com. This is a 4-disc set, with 13 episodes. The pilot is a double episode, so you essentially get 14 episodes. It ran in the summer of 2009.

Spartacus TV Series for $10 per season in HD ($8 for Season 0)

If you are missing any of the Spartacus TV seasons (the one that aired on Starz), for a limited time, Google Play has the three regular seasons on sale for $10 each in HD, while the prequel season (Season 0, aka Gods of the Arena) goes for $8. These are the HD prices, not the SD prices!
